Onboard MSC Euribia there are an array of sustainability measures put into place in an effort to be more environmentally friendly. These include:

  • MSC Euribia is powered by Liquefied Natural Gas, which is designed to cut CO2 emissions by 20% and nitrogen oxides by up to 85%
  • Before being offloaded in designated port facilities, materials like glass, plastic, metal, paper, and other recyclables are separated onboard
  • Desalinated saltwater from an innovative wastewater treatment system is used to produce 80% of the freshwater onboard
  • Innovative propellers produce less noise, and a new hull design seeks to have less of an impact on marine life while lowering drag and consuming less fuel
  • Optimising energy efficiency aboard and lowering carbon intensity are the goals of smart heating, ventilation, and cooling systems, LED lighting (which is 75% more efficient), and other technologies used on MSC Euribia
  • Pioneering the use of oxide fuel cells onboard in order to reduce emissions
