Montevideo
DAY 5
08 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 8 AM to 8 PM
Located on the north-eastern bank of the Rio de la Plata, Montevideo is the capital city of Uruguay and a modern metropolis with a difference. Boasting stunning European art deco-style architecture, a hangover from this region’s colonial past, Montevideo is home to an expansive beach promenade and a South American atmosphere to match. Here, you’ll find the Rambla, a riverfront avenue that’s one of the world’s longest continuous sidewalks – which just highlights how perfect Montevideo is if you’re looking to take a laid-back wander here. Beyond this, though, if you’re looking for a little more action, you’ll find a bustling marketplace in Mercado del Puerto, intriguing exhibitions in the Andes Museum and Museo El Juguetero (just two of the several incredible museums and galleries in Montevideo), and fantastic food everywhere you turn. With all the modern comforts of a capital city, but a relaxed atmosphere that lets you savour the little things, a visit to this metropolis is worth looking forward to.
Things to do in Montevideo:
Legislative Palace of Uruguay
A monumental example of neo-classical architecture in the heart of Montevideo, the Legislative Palace of Uruguay acts as the meeting place of the General Assembly of Uruguay, the seat of the legislative branch of the Uruguayan government, and a remarkable landmark to see when you visit. Built between 1904 and 1925, it was constructed to commemorate 100 years of Uruguayan independence.
Obelisk of Montevideo
Built in 1930 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Constitution of Uruguay as a homage to the original members of the General Assembly, this three-sided structure stretches 40 metres up and is flanked by three bronze structures representing Law, Liberty, and Force. In 1983, it was the site of Rio de Libertad – the nation’s largest demonstration ever, demanding an end to the civil-military dictatorship in place at the time.
Palacio Salvo
Standing 95 metres tall, this stunning structure takes advantage of eclectic architectural designs to deliver one of the most remarkable buildings in Montevideo. Built with the intention of being a hotel in 1928, it’s now a mixture of private residences and office spaces – though tours of the building are available at select times during the day.
Punta del Este
DAY 6
09 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 8 AM to 5 PM
Known as “The Monaco of the South” and “The Hamptons of South America”, Punta del Este is a stunning seaside resort city in southeastern Uruguay. With a permanent population of around 12,500 people, this holiday hotspot is the ultimate destination for summer sunshine and beachside relaxation. Although, it enjoys warm temperatures throughout the year, so there’s always a good time to visit. The coastline here is split into two regions, with one side featuring thick golden sands and the other a fine white sand – so, you get the best of both worlds if you’re looking to sunbathe while you stop off here. As a popular holiday destination for the affluent, you can also expect to find sensational restaurants, bars, lounges, and more in Punta del Este.
Things to do in Punta del Este:
La Mano de Punta del Este
A sculpture completed in 1982 by Chilean artist Mario Irarrazabal, La Mano (The Hand) has quickly become one of Uruguay’s most recognizable landmarks; depicting five human fingers emerging from the sands of Brava Beach, La Mano represents the dangers of drowning in the rougher waters of La Barra – which also make this a prime spot for surfing.
Museum of the Seas
Opened in 1996, this nautical natural history museum is one of the most interesting spots to visit in Punta del Este – though, it’s a little more than a stone’s throw from the beachfront. Here, you’ll find over 5,000 species of marine fauna, an impressive exhibit on history’s most famous pirates, and almost 40,000 specimens of insects in the Insectarium.
Casapueblo
Just 13km from central Punta del Este, Casapueblo is a stunning structure inspired by houses on the Mediterranean coast of Santorini and the nest of a red ovenbird – the national bird of Argentina. Constructed by, and once permanent residence of, Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro, Casapueblo now hosts a hotel, a museum, and a restaurant among other amenities.
At Sea
DAY 7
10 Mar 2026
While sailing between destinations, you’ll have time to take a moment and enjoy everything your cruise ship has to offer; with stunning food prepared with the freshest ingredients, fantastic entertainment opportunities, and plenty of places to lounge around, an enjoyable day at sea awaits!
Itajai
DAY 8
11 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 10 AM to 7 PM
At the mouth of the Itajai River, Itajai is a unique city in southern Brazil and a prominent settlement when it comes to this nation’s colonial history. An important region for Portuguese settlers by the early 19th century, this city is also home to a substantial number of German immigrants and these European influences are clear throughout. Home to a fantastic array of beaches, however, and temperatures that often peak in December and January, Itajai is a great destination to visit if you’re looking for winter sunshine – and, you’ll find some truly wonderful seafood available here too, as the city hosts Marejada (a Portuguese festival of fishing and seafood) every year.
Things to do in Itajai:
Parrot Beak
A unique photo opportunity in Itajai, this rocky structure on the southern end of Atalaia Beach resembles the head and beak of a parrot – from most angles, anyway.
Paroquia Santissimo Sacramento
This stunningly-white catholic church is a fantastic example of eclectic architecture, with the main structure having gone through a variety of alterations and improvements over the last two hundred years. Starting as a smaller parish church in the early 19th century, the church we see now was blessed as late as the 1970s – an impressive testament to the value of this landmark to the local community and nation as a whole.
Santos
DAY 9
12 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 9:30 AM to 7 PM
If you’re looking for a quintessential Brazilian city experience, look no further than Santos – a municipality on the island of Sao Vicente with everything you could possibly need to enjoy everything this culture-rich nation has to offer. Home to one of the largest beachfront gardens in the world, seven separate beaches, a number of unique museums, and an abundance of excellent restaurants and bars, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to the activities and amenities available during your visit. No matter however you want to spend your stay, Santos has you covered and you’re sure to remember your time here fondly.
Things to do in Santos:
Museo de Cafe
Once where the world’s coffee prices were dictated, this museum to the popular caffeinated beverage is an experience that takes you right from the cultivation of the coffee beans themselves to the consolidation of coffee as one of Brazil’s national symbols. Here, you’ll find a variety of permanent and temporary exhibitions, some of the rarest coffee beans in the country, and a chance to explore a Bidding Hall – where coffee auctions were held until as late as 1950 – and more Coffee-related items.
Memorial of Achievements
Situated in the Urbano Caldeira Stadium, this football-based museum is dedicated to showcasing the successes of Santos Futebol Clube and its stars – which includes some of the best players the beautiful game has ever seen, like Pele and Neymar. Even if you’re not a sports fan, this museum charts Brazil’s history on the global stage, highlighting all the ups and downs that come with being one of the best footballing nations in history.
Shrine of St. Anthony of Valongo
A small antique church in the heart of Santos, this magnificent structure is considered one of the finest examples of 18th century Baroque architecture in the city; while the original chapel was built in 1691, and the church itself was first built in 1640, the building we see today is adorned with tiled murals from the 1930s. With the church being partly demolished in 1859 to make room for the construction of the Santos-Jundiai railway line, the survival of the statue of Saint Anthony on the altar is considered a miracle – which, in turn, prevented the full demolition of the church.
Parati
DAY 10
13 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 8 AM to 6 PM
Sitting on the Costa Verde (Green Coast), Parati is a tourist hotspot known for its historical town centre, stunning section of coastline, and dramatic mountainous backdrop. Interestingly, the entire town is listed as a National Historic Landmark by IPHAN, with over 80% of the area being protected. A charming colonial town with a calmer atmosphere than Brazil’s other coastline settlements, Parati is the perfect place to soak in the sunshine and appreciate the stunning scenery surrounding you. Rest and relaxation are important to every holiday, and you’ll find plenty of that here.
Things to do in Parati:
Forte Defensor
Built in 1703 and equipped with six cannons, this fortress was constructed in an effort to defend the settlement’s important commercial warehouses. However, it was left in ruin for decades after the region’s economic decline. Reconstructed in 1822, it’s believed that this is where the first nucleus of the town Parati began. One of seven forts constructed around the harbour here, this is just one of two surviving fortifications.
Serra da Bocaina National Park
Created in 1971, this sprawling national park is approximately 104,000 hectares in size and home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including: pines, trumpet trees, palm trees, cats, sloths, monkeys, snakes, and birds. Several species of amphibians are also only known to be found in the park and the surrounding area, including the Bocaina dwarf frog and Bocaina big tooth frog.
Ilha Grande
DAY 11
14 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 8 AM to 6 PM
A forest-covered island around 12km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Ilha Grande is the perfect destination for the explorers among you. It’s home to several well-maintained and well-signposted walking trails which will afford you the opportunity to admire the island’s incredible wildlife – of which, you’ll find everything from parrots and hummingbirds to monkeys – and stunning scenery. With roughly 63% of the island covered by the Ilha Grande State Park, and numerous smaller reserves in place protecting the flora, fauna, and traditional communities that reside here, 87% of the island has a protected status. While you won’t find too many attractions here, this is a great place to get in touch with nature and explore a unique environment that – in part, at least – is endangered.
Things to do in Ilha Grande:
Lopes Mendes
An extended palm tree-lined white-sand beach with crystal-clear waters, this beach is the definition of paradise and just one of the beaches you can take advantage of when you’re on Ilha Grande. If you’re looking to unwind in the sunshine with sand between your toes, this is the perfect place to do just that.
Candido Mendes Prison
Now abandoned, this prison was once home to some of Brazil’s worst – until it was closed in 1994. Reachable by following a walking trail from Vila de Dois Rois, this prison is the setting for a whole host of escapee stories – with one of the most famous being Escadinho, who escaped via helicopter!
Buzios
DAY 12
15 Mar 2026
Time at Port: from 8 AM to 6 PM
Armacao dos Buzios, a popular tourist destination in the state of Rio de Janeiro that surprisingly remained relatively unknown to the wider world until the 1960s, is a highlight of any South America cruise and one holiday hotspot you’ll want to look forward to. Home to a staggering number of beaches, this peninsula serves sun loungers and surfers equally – with beaches on the west coast calmer and quieter, while beaches on the east coast are home to rougher seas and perfect for water sports. An urban paradise away from the hustle and bustle of a major city, you won’t regret disembarking when you arrive here.
Things to do in Buzios:
Rua das Pedras
Rua das Pedras is a cobblestoned main avenue through Buzios that plays host to an abundance of entertainment venues, restaurants, and acts as the heart of the area when it comes to revelry and excitement.
Orla Bardot
An extension of Rua das Pedras, a main street that acts as the heart of Buzios, Orla Bardot is a stunning stretch of oceanfront that links two of the oldest areas of town together. You’ll also see several statues along this section of oceanfront, including representations of actress Brigitte Bardot and former president Juscelino Kubitschek.

Excellent cruise with first class dining and service. Excursions seem very expensive and mixed quality. Melilla tour was unimpressive - too much info and not enough awareness of group needs. Marseille was excellent, by contrast, although also a lot more interesting setting. Net curtains in Terrace are old-fashioned, look grubby and obscure view. Discard!!

Stateroom was good but felt it could have been a little larger. The balcony was fine. Public areas were newly refurbished and felt luxurous and clean. The Marina Lounge where the shows were held had the best sound system I've encountered. The table tennis area was severly lacking, only one table and wasn't sheltered from the wind.
The buffet food in the Terrace Cafe was adequate. The menus in the Grand Dinning Room varied, some nights was okay, some nights exceptional. The food in the four speciality restaurants was especially good, Red Ginger being the favourite.
I really like the size of ship, being large enough so that entertainment and facilities were good, and small enough to be able to nip into port without too much hassle and long waits for disembarking etc.
I wouldn't hesitate to recomment the Marina.

26 Apr 2025
To be honest for a cruise line who prides itself as being the best food at sea actually fell very short in our opinion, yes the speciality restaurants were good, however no better than many other of the cheaper cruise lines specialist dinning. The grand dinning and Waves Grill and buffet were very below standard, and we tried to get in to the specialists as much as we could but failed on a few occasions. Couldn't fault the room it was probably the best we have experienced and we have failed many many times. Staff in the while great, and ship decor was really nice, very clean. Entertainment could have been a little better but we've had worse.

Montevideo
DAY 5
The Cairucu Environmental Protection Area, for example, is an important remnant of the Atlantic Forest biome. Meanwhile, the Juatinga Ecological Reserve protects a peninsula and the traditional lifestyle of numerous villages along the coastline around Parati, and the Taimos Ecological Station monitors the marine ecosystem of the area and the nearby Ilha Grande Bay.
A popular excursion for the affluent among Rio de Janeiro’s residents, you’ll find Buzios is home to an active nightlife, sensational restaurants, and plenty of shopping.
