Its foundation dates back to the 8th century BC, and it once had an important relationship with Athens, due to its commercial power and position on the sea. The city is rich in history and there are numerous places of interest to visit, in particular the archaeological excavations of the nearby Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.

There were lots of activities but we didn’t really participate in but it was a varied programme. All the crew and staff were lovely very friendly could not do enough to help they were faultless. The ship was clean and tidy but is in need of a refurb as it’s looking a little tired so needs a revamp then I would have given it 5 stars. Royal isn’t my favourite cruise company as I do not like having to add on all the extras on (which I appreciate some people like as you have a choice) which other companies ie virgin give as standard, I’m sure that that is reflected in virgins pricing but if I added Wi-Fi, speciality dinning and soft drinks I feel that royal would be more expensive than a comparable virgin cruise. The cost of the drinks package, wifi and gratuities without speciality dinning would have added an over an additional £2000 to the holiday for 3 of us which when the basic cost was £1300 is a massive add on. We did a 6 night Norway cruise and I should have looked at the itinerary in more detail as we only had 2 ports stavanger (a full day) which was just right followed by an overnight stay in Oslo. What I didn’t realise was that the time we could get off was 2.30 pm and the time to be back on board was 11.30 the following morning so I thought 8 had 2 days which in reality it wasn’t it was 21 hours. Also I do love the P&O dinning system where you join a virtual queue so have a lot more flexibility as out dinning time was 8.45 which was a bit too late, we did ask about changing it but we were offer 5.15 which is a little too early on a sharing table.

Keep in mind that specifics can change, so check the cruise line's website or contact customer service for the latest information.

Royal Caribbean strives to accommodate various dietary requirements for their guests. They offer a range of dining options to cater to different dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and other specific dietary restrictions. When making a reservation or prior to your cruise, it's recommended to inform Royal Caribbean of your dietary requirements so they can make the necessary arrangements and provide you with suitable meal options. Their main dining rooms, specialty restaurants, and buffet areas often have options that cater to different dietary preferences.

Generally, Royal Caribbean guests have a luggage allowance comprising checked and carry-on bags. Checked bags usually have a weight limit of around 50 pounds or 23 kilograms each, with varying allowed quantities. Carry-on bags can include personal items, medications, and valuables, and are typically brought to staterooms. Special items like pushchairs and medical equipment might be allowed. Baggage policies can change, so it's advisable to refer to Royal Caribbean's official website.

Royal Caribbean features a versatile "Wear What You Want" approach for most of its cruises. While formal wear is optional, smart-casual attire is common for evenings. The cruise line encourages self-expression in attire while ensuring respectful dressing in public areas.

Iglu Cruise has a team in place to provide necessary assistance to make your holiday run smoothly. If anyone in your party requires medical or mobility assistance, notify your Cruise Specialist at the time of booking or as soon as possible if circumstances change after booking. The Special Assistance Team will email a form 6-8 weeks before departure, which must be completed and returned.

Travel Requirements

All passengers (including all children), should hold their own full 10-year (5 years for children) British Citizen (GBR) passport. The passport should be valid for at least 6 months past your expected return date to the UK, as this is often a criteria for entry to certain countries.

Royal Caribbean strongly recommends that all guests consider purchasing travel insurance to protect themselves against unexpected events that could disrupt their travel plans, such as trip cancellations, medical emergencies, baggage loss, or travel delays.
