It is famous for its peaceful ambiance, sacred "longevity water" spring (chomeisui), and ties to poet Matsuo Basho. Kanegasaki-gu Shrine is a traditional "shrine of love" located on a hill overlooking Tsuruga Bay. It is a charming, scenic location dedicated to southern court princes and is well-known for its April "Flower Exchange Festival" featuring cherry blossom trees. Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum
The Port of Humanity Tsuruga Museum is a touching and well-regarded museum that celebrates the city's history as a harbour of refuge. The museum is housed in recreated early twentieth-century Western-style buildings near Tsuruga Port, which include the historic Russian Volunteer Fleet Office. The exhibits highlight the humanity of Tsuruga people, describing how they welcomed refugees, gave food, and offered assistance despite language barriers.
Matsubara Beach
Kehi no Matsubara in Tsuruga is a picturesque, ancient coastline area renowned as one of Japan's three major pine groves, with a 1km arc of white sand, green pines, and clear, shallow water.
