Tipping in Borneo
While tipping is not strictly mandatory in Borneo, it is highly expected, particularly within the tourism and hospitality sectors. So, below, please find some recommendations when it comes to tipping throughout your tour:
- Local guide: RM20 per person, per day
- Drivers: RM10 per person, per day
- Restaurants: RM2 per person
- Boatmen: RM10 per person, per day
- Housekeeping: RM4 per person
- Luggage Handler: RM4 per person
Transfers
Transfers, when necessary, will be shared.
Luggage Allowance
The luggage allowance on internal flights is limited to 20 kg, so you will need to bring a smaller bag for these parts of the tour. Your main luggage will be safely stored at the hotel in Kota Kinabalu, as you will return there at the end of the tour before continuing on.
