        Today's Civitavecchia was born as an Etruscan village along the Tyrrhenian coast, but it is believed that the territory has been inhabited since the Neolithic era. The first documents mentioning the city date back to the year 107 AD; the same as the construction of the port which ended three years later. Crew were fabulous. Food was fine...not the best . no ice cream sundaes..only a very low quality whippy icecream available in buffet room. Entertainment was good..particularly the dance classes..these were a highlight. The reason I have given 4 out of 5 is due to several factors - on arriving at Toulon we were 45 minutes walk from main town.. RC provided a boat transfer at 10 US Dollars per person...so that really grated on us.. Also irons are not permitted and RC do not provide an ironing station so you are asked to pay 20 US Dollars for 10 items to be ironed for you ...we didn't bother! Toiletries in bathroom inadequate..no separate shower or hair or conditioner choice..just one fits all..only bar of soap at sink. Fridge not very cold. We purchased the expensive drinks package at around £350 each..but this did not include the US dollars 18.5 per day service charge. Fortunately we bumped into a couple of Canadians who advised we could go to guest services and advise we would like this removed and we would personally tip staff if we wanted. This was a great choice abd we tipped staff personally...which they prefer.

Brilliance of the Seas is a fantastic Ship. Our room, an inside cabin through choice, was clean and tidy and well presented. Dining options were plenty and food was very good and tasty. The Windjammer always had a good selection of various foods. Staff were fantastic as always, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed it so much that we booked another Cruise on the same Ship!

Great cruise holiday. Itinerary was very good and time spent in each destination was reasonable. Very clean ship, friendly service, with all amenities available. Food was excellent throughout the day. Drinks to expensive definitely not great value for money. Shows and general entertainment were very good. Swimming pool small for size of ship.
