We were due to have a cruise on this ship at the end of October but once on board we were told the ship wouldn’t be going any further than Cologne due to low river levels. The ship was lovely but the organisation following our decision to abort the trip and return home was terrible. Scenic must have known the river levels were low when they sent our tickets out a week before departure but there was no mention of it in the correspondence. The alternative would have been a hotel and land tour, something Scenic must have arranged weeks before. Apparently this is a 5* cruise line but to be sent home from a little known airport on a Ryanair flight does not do their image much good. Plenty of style in their product, but little substance.
Unbelievable is the only way I can discribbe our river cruise from Amsterdam to budapest. We had saved for our trip of a lifetime and it was and can't think of anything that would be better. From the time we boarded till the time we disembark it was pure luxury from the staff to the food to the ship to everything that we did including excusions nothing was to much trouble. I would recommend this forget what the cost is it was worth every cent we had cabins on lower deck absolutely perfect. so if you are thinking of going and price frightens you off the lower decks are fine. If I could go again tomorow I would get straight back on, i have not done much in my life but this can't be beat do it!
Over the years I have been on many ocean cruises with many different cruise lines. I have recently returned from my first River cruise aboard the brand new Scenic Jasper and what a delight it was. The ship was luxurious including the best shower I have ever experienced! The crew were very friendly and attentive to the point of being faultless. The food was of a very high standard and all the the drinks with meals, from the bar and in the room are included in the price - even the top brands. All of the travel arrangements including transfers were very well run. I did enjoy the River cruise experience - Ok, it helped it was on a new luxury ship but it is a lovely way to see the cities and countryside from a different angle and it helped that the shore excursions are also free
I have just returned from my first ever River cruise on board the brand new Scenic Jasper. The whole trip was a stress free experience from start to finish, and the whole team at Scenic made sure we had a wonderful time. The ship was as you would expect a new ship to be, very modern with lots of clean lines. A novel idea was on the balconies which had an upper glass window that could be open and shut electronically to provide either a normal balcony or a conservatory - ideal for a varying climate, and a lovely place to sit and eat breakfast from room service ( at no extra charge ). There was adequate storage in the cabins and the bathrooms had a lovely big shower with mood lighting and several shower head options. Although I didnt take advantage of it there was a pillow menu available, and all cabins have hairdryers provided and a great illuminated make up mirror. Unlike a lot of cruises the mini bar was included in the basic cost and was replenished free of charge on a daily basis. There is also a Smart TV in each cabin with a choice of TV, music and films as well as internet access ( Wifi is available free of charge throughout the ship ) The public areas were very spacious and plenty of room for guests to chill out in comfort. In the lounge area there is a tea making machine and a state of the art coffee machine, both freely available 24 hours a day. Newspaper articles and crosswords are printed out each day and left for guests to help themselves to in the lounge. This is also where the resident pianist performs in an evening and where all entertainment takes place later on - this could be anything from a disco, to a very funny show put on by the staff, something different each night. Light breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas are also available in the bar/lounge area each day. Other facilities on board include a gym, hairdressers and wellness centre, a bbq and heated swimming pool on the sun deck. The staff on board did an excellent job of looking after us and within a couple of days knew everyones favourite drink and made sure we were never left with empty glasses. Another new idea was a gadget used on tours that you charged up overnight in your cabin and then wore round your neck during tours with an earpiece which transmitted the voice of the tour guide, so no need to miss anything even if you were at the back of the group. This worked really well. You are given a choice of tours in each port which are all included in the basic price of the cruise, and there are trips to suit different fitness levels - the electronic bikes looked fun, but sadly I never got to try one out as I was on other trips. This really is an All Inclusive product with all meals, drinks, tips wifi and excursions included in the cost, so no massive bill to worry about when you check out. Anyone who likes luxurious spacious surroundings, good food and wine, with attention to detail and excellent value for money will love this cruise line.
