Regatta Reviews
View Cruise DealsOur first cruise with Oceania but ship very similar to Azamara Quest that we have sailed on twice before. Similar experience between both but the entertainment offerings on Regatta were poor by comparison with Azamara. Had issues with Destination Services stating that a trip that should have included a 15 minute stop at a beach for pictures was a typo error in the description.
Ship Staff crew cabin dining and special dining all fabulous. we had as many fresh towels in the cabin and for beach and poolside as we could possibly want. the cabin was cleaned every day and the bed turned down nightly. we had a balcony so it was nice to have some time watching sun sets especially during sail days. The Bars and restaurants were very nice and never overcrowded. Having afternoon tea was a nice touch as was the barista bar where you could grab a snack or cake with a coffee. The only slight criticism i would make is the service charge on each drink purchased. this was especially so when actually docked in port when there was also a port tax. We actually went independent on shore excursions which we found to be satisfactory as the ship excursions was so very expensive. We managed to attend the nightly entertainment every night and found them to be very good. After the main event there was singalong at the piano bar or the Horizons bar and karaoke if that's what you like. All in all the Polynesian Hawaii cruise was all what we hoped it would be a special cruise for a special anniversary.
The Regatta is an old ship in serious need of an upgrade. Tiles on swimming pool falling off and decking needed some TLC. The entertainment was disappointing and the information on ports visited was non existant. We were given 800$ shore credit, but the the excursions were very expensive ( compared to other cruises we have been on) and most of them were fully booked. No sale away parties and only one party on the deck. Plenty of Karaoke but not for us. On our last day we had to leave the ship at 9am and were taken straight to the airport for our 10pm flight !! When we have been on other cruises there has always been an option for an excursion with an airport drop off. On the plus side the food was excellent and most of the staff were lovely. We were led to believe that Oceania was a superior cruise line, not the case.
Food was good but not outstanding. Some staff very friendly but others not. Lack of atmosphere on our cruise. Entertainment poor.
An incredible ship - the staff were so welcoming and full of smiles. It was a smaller ship and it was so lovely to be able to negotiate and get our bearings almost straight away! We embarked smoothly and without delay, with luggage delivered to our rooms within the hour. Disembarkation was seamless too; our journey from cabin to the cruise port was less than 15 minutes. Our outside deluxe cabin was snug but very comfortable, loads of little hiding places to store items. Our steward Min was so helpful & an absolute credit to Oceania. Food at all restaurants was out of this world, particularly in the Polo Grill - the fillet mignon was stunning! We are now fully converted to Oceania, they are fantastic and we can’t wait to sail with them again.
Oceania's Regatta is a pleasant small cruise ship with comfortable cabins but it is not luxurious in the way the Oceania publicity would lead you to believe, in my opinion. The theatre/lounge is comfortably furnished but poorly arranged for seeing the small stage/floor area. The decor is a bit uninspiring. The food is good. The outside eating area at the back is nice. There's nothing to complain about but it's not outstandingly special.
Regatta is a very nice ship. We couldn’t fault anything regarding the presentation and cleanliness throughout. The cruise itself was too busy though and lacked time to properly enjoy the resorts. Maybe one less port would have worked better with an overnight stay in Phuket May have been a better option than the short stops experienced. Excursions offered were not inspiring and disappointingly we were miss sold a trip in Phuket presented as visiting a shopping mall 5 mins walk from a beach which was parent nonsense as it occurred leaving us with 3 1/2 hours at a mall which translates into a wasted effort. Food was enjoyable with a couple of memorable meals taken in the speciality restaurants. Either side of that the main dining room offered a good selection albeit the experience didn’t wow on a couple of occasions. The biggest disappointment was the post dinner entertainment which was as flat as a pancake. Low budget shows were the mainstay all of which were distinctly ordinary.
A lovely cruise holiday with good service from friendly staff- who seemed to actuallly enjoy their work and had interest in both their work and passengers. Got to meet a delightful group of fellow passengers who where from all parts of the globe and generally well travelled. . Regatta was generally pristine and there were lots of facilities, for a small ship,if you wanted to use them . Food was generally of high standard with a wide variety. Cabin was modern with plenty of tv channels and usb charging points. On the downside the en-suite was relatively small for a premier cruise line , found it a squeeze to get in the shower and it was quite a high step from main cabin to en suite- beware you do not fall as you come out. For Brits it lacked a kettle for making a cup of tea but free room service was always available and prompt- so we made use of that service for tea and coffee plus the fridge was well stocked with soda . Disembarkation was relatively early from 8-9 am and for those with late flights they did not offer extra time onboard. Excursion's generally enjoyable and informative but only touched the surface and could have been slightly longer for the costs involved. All in all a very relaxing holiday with good food and drink, great service and good company.
Food was fabulous. Cabin was clean and large enough but the shower was very small. Wasn’t really enough entertainment for us, we prefer a larger ship
This was our first ever cruise and overall very enjoyable but not unlikely to rebook as too quiet for us. We stayed in one of the PH suites, which was lovely except for the air-conditioning which didn't work very well snd room was very warm on the evenings. The ship decor was lovely and the food in all restaurants was amazing. Staff were very friendly and our Butler was very helpful. The biggest issue we had with the ship was the entertainment which was quite poor. . . one night was ok but the group try to sign songs not suited for their vocal range. The swimming pool was quite shabby, tiles were falling off daily which you don't expect on a ship that is at the price level Oceania us pitched at. Excursions were overpriced and not very well organised. . . . you felt very rushed abd too much time waiting around for guides to purchase tickets. . . which you would think would already be purchased. . . . cheaper to arrange your own trips. . . . arrange a private guide. . . very reasonable But we met some lovely people and enjoyed our stay
