Itinerary was spectacular. Food very good, speciality restaurants were especially brilliant. Cabin was in a great position for us and spacious. Clean and fresh. First time on such a dress down cruise. Don't bother taking dressy clothing on this one and making my mistake. I could have packed half of what I did and I pack light. People totally disregarded some of the very few dress code rules, wearing caps and extremely scruffy clothing at dinner. Staff were very attentive, helpful and pleasant. Just a hiccup with one trip which left us over an hour waiting without enough chairs to sit on in a small area whilst they got us offshore and then put me on the wrong tour. I made my own way and was given a reimbursement. Overall very impressive and I will sail with Norwegian again but with very casual clothing as it is a very casual ship. However, it is very well run The holiday was remarkable as I went to all the places I wanted to visit.
Aqua is a beautiful ship, with lovely facilities, as you'd expect from a new ship. We had a week cruising around the western Caribbean, and it was a pleasurable experience. The cabin (Club Outside) was larger than we expected, everything worked well, and it was quiet and comfortable. A minor point, but the range of TV channels was only a handful. Service overall was excellent with the Cabin Steward very attentive, the restaurant staff invariably helpful and friendly, and staff throughout the ship generally made you feel welcome. We tried a range of dining options including Cagneys Steakhouse, Le Bistro French Restaurant, The Local, and The Commodore, which were attractive and very popular, but the Surfside self service restaurant was a nightmare - over used, always full, and not the range/choices of foods provided on other ships/lines. We loved the ship overall, but if anything would put us off it was the Surfside. We effectively stopped using it. Entertainment-wise the big shows were very well produced, but other options felt a bit lightweight. We were a bit surprised that the main theatre was much smaller than we expected. Our overall view was very positive but there were aspects that could be improved.
Had a happy memorable time on norwegian sun. Only problem being the amount of admin and queueing on board. . various things to be filled in which isn't good especially for senior passengers. Dosnt seem to be enough staff on hand to help. Otherwise a lovely holiday.
