Best Around the World Blog Award

While nobody has yet been recorded to circumnavigate the globe solely by human powered means, the earliest known traveller to have completed this task by boat was the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in the early 1500s. Since then, many have gone on to claim this monumental achievement and with the popularity of online blogging it’s only natural that today’s travellers are kind enough to share the details of their epic quests as they occur.

Any task of this magnitude makes for fascinating reading. There are quite a number of people attempting to circumnavigate the Earth as you read this – some with a schedule in mind, others simply making their way across the planet at their leisure. The methods of travel and size of budget are also key factors which make each tale markedly unique.

The judging panel for the around the world blog category had a difficult task on its collective hands in deciding which blogs were deserving of an award. And that’s because all of the sites surveyed were, frankly, excellent – it wasn’t a case of trying to find inspirational blogs for this subject, but deciding how best to whittle them down to this noteworthy few. After more than a little heated debate, we’re pleased to present the following list of nigh-on essential travel reading.
