An amazing but very emotional holiday visiting Vietnam and Cambodia. Highly recommended we were well looked after by local guides and crew.
A well-maintained, comfortable ship, good food, and excellent logistics. There is a great fitness facility and good hair salon and well-managed excursions. Packages caused a bad taste however. I bought a coffee package, and after happy use and being told I have six cups left, I was then told that I do not have a package. I provided proof and was referred to Customer Services. They traced proof but could not tell me how many cups I have had. They passed a credit for one cup and the problem could not be resolved. The person at the desk was rude and disinterested. Another member in our group had a similar experience with a drinks package. How wine packages are sold is pushy and the information given is incorrect and deceiving: "Can we buy wine using the package anywhere onboard? YES. Reality - no. Only in restaurants. Sad that the least expensive element harmed the reputation.
The whole experience - arranged through Iglu - was a complete success. The lovely new riverboat, although quite small, with around 100 passengers, had a friendliness and intimacy lacking in larger vessels. My cabin on Douro Deck, although small, was very well- designed and perfect for one. It may have been a little cramped for two people with a load of luggage. The bathroom in particular was excellent. The public rooms were light and spacious, and the sun deck was amazing. There is even a tiny gym. Wine and other drinks were generously available at mealtimes, as were cocktails every evening. Breakfast and lunch were mainly buffet style, and dinner a little more formal, with interesting and varied menus and offerings of variable quality. I really enjoyed the whole trip!
I had the pleasure of sailing on this ship in August for 15 days, what a fantastic holiday it more than passed my expectations From the moment you stepped on board, you were made very welcome, after checking in I never needed to say my name or cabin number, the staff were incredible, remembered your every need. Cruise director John was exceptionalable knowledgeable, you could see that all the staff enjoyed their work. I have cruised for over 40 years, and this cruise was far the best of any river or ocean cruises I have done. Can't wait to go on another. An added bonus was I was invited to have dinner with the Captain, what a delightful young man he was.
