We have just returned from a week cruise on MSC Divina, in a yacht club suite. So here are a few bits and pieces you may need to give a clear insight into what to expect. Boarding will consist of you going to a cordoned off part of the terminal, where you will be given drinks, choose a morning paper for the coming week, and await your butler to accompany you onto the ship. Our butler had gone missing, so we had another to stand in. You are taken straight to the yacht club area, and given a brief chat, before the spa sales team arrive with a price list and receipt book, the latter she began to fill in as my wife scanned the prices. You are then shown to your cabin / suite, which is almost identical to a balcony cabin on Celebrity, but with slightly plusher décor. Again it should be your butler, but ours was still missing. Your baggage will be waiting for you at this point. You get a mini bar in the cabin, that is allegedly topped up with your requested drinks. This is not so. You get topped up with the same as is in it, and any request for anything different, is met with "ring room service if you want a drink" Didn't bother me, as I don't drink, but was not what we had been told to expect. We then met our butler (Audrey, male) who asked what time we were eating, as it his job to escort us there on the first night to show us the best route, as the restaurant is at the aft of the ship. We agreed to meet in Concierge at 18:55. He didn't arrive, so we made our own way. wasn't far, about 300 metres. The restaurant is pleasant, but the table cloths are to long, and if you don't sweep them up when sitting down, you will pull the crockery off the table with your leg. The wine choice is basic, and you get what they have at the time. Not a problem for me, but the wife was a bit miffed. There were not many choices on the menu each night, but I always found something, however the portions were very small, and accompaniment's were a little scarce. The steak option was just that. a plate of steak, absolutely nothing else. not a veggie or chip to be seen. Concierge reviews suggest that they will go out of their way to help you. No they wont. Requests to see the head butler were met with " he'll be 30 minutes" 3 times on the trot. A request regarding information of a place of interest and any helpful info was met with "get a taxi" If you plan on them helping you to arrange your own excursion, forget it. The top sail lounge is nice, very quiet all of the time, night and day, but the service is excellent. The pool and bar are good. Service is good, as is the food. Two points of note up here. There is very little shade and no umbrellas. If you like heat great, if you like a bit of shade you may have a bit of a shock. Secondly, the pool attendants seem to be allergic to glasses and plates. It is not uncommon for them to ignore an empty glass even if they have to step over it. Not a major issue, as most members of the YC have enough manners to not leave glasses on the floor, but just be aware it can happen, so watch were your walking. You can enter the pool area from the outside decks through a gate. Be aware that some people will hang around and wait for you to open the gate with your card and follow you in to get free drinks. The crew know this, but whilst they are prepared to moan at you for letting them in, they wont put someone there to stop it happening. Your drinks package is sold as "complementary throughout the ship" No, not true. One of the cocktail bars drinks start at 12.50 Euro and apparently, your package only covers up to 10. I pointed out that this was not what the web site said, and produced the web page. The ships bar manager said that although that is what they tell you, the crew are told differently, thus you have to pay. You only have a classic package for your cruise. Finally the butler. Other than hide, I'm not sure what mine did. I was due to meet him twice, once he no-showed, once he was late. He didn't do anything at all of any use. To be honest, I think it is a gimmick. They did have 2 guarding the seats in the theatre, but general crew are perfectly capable of doing that. So overall. The ship is very nice. Well laid out with plenty of bars. Entertainment is average. The theatre shows are ok, but an Italian classical singer singing AC/DC was a bit hard to take. The other entertainers and bands were very average, with no interaction at all. Possible due to the amount of different languages on board. Service is slow outside of the YC, but very good inside. Food is ok. I wasn't overly impressed, but my wife liked it, so make of that what you will. Is the cost of the YC worth it? If you want peace and quiet, and a guaranteed sun bed away from the masses, yes. If your happy to mix it with everyone else. then no, save your money and go on another cruise with your change.

Cruise from Marseille Juky19. Lovely cabin on 9th floor with balcony, midships. Busy ship full of families and children, buffet usually very busy and sometimes manic. Gym busy period early evening, sauna and steam room additional cost, very rarely was there a second person us using spa. Evening shows entertaining, same singers throughout the week. Nice to have different port each day, no at sea days on this cruise. Six years since last MSC cruise, appears some cost reductions have occurred. Often only one person scanning cards when departing or boarding ship. Fewer staff serving at the various bars, no daily service charge added on this holiday.

We chose this ship because of its itinerary. However there was a constant change of French and Italian passengers at every port. This combined with school break gave it a party ship atmosphere. The vessel was large enough to find a quiet space but not in the buffet which was chaos. Our cabin was at the stern and was noisy from the nightclub and shuddered badly when docking. We were fortunate to be able to change to another one due to a no show. Entertainment and crew were excellent but we would hesitate to choose another MSC large vessel.

The Divina is a beautiful ship with a good mix of sparkle and more subtle areas. Most notable is the absence of gaudy carpets ????. The itinerary we chose around the Med was probably the reason why the ship atmosphere was loud and busy all the time, especially in the buffet at breakfast, finding a seat was a daily grind and until cruise lines create one way traffic in the buffets there will always be people wandering in all directions and getting in each others way. Food in the main dining room was very hit and miss but the great staff made it bearable most nights. We had the Aurea experience and thought it well worth it, the spa is one of the nicest we have used and much more reasonably priced than Canyon ranch on Princess and Celebrity. Cabin decor was very nice. Didn’t meet our cabin steward until day 3 and not much after that but he was quick to supply the missing things we requested. Tours were good value in our opinion. Drinks package is comical and the bar staff seem totally ms erased by the options as evidenced by being able to get Aperol Spritz in some bars but not in others ...we soon learned where to get the right deal. Not convinced we would do the Med with MSC again but would consider other routes now we have been status matched to top level.

The ‘floating city’ of Venice has romantic connotations all over the world. Known for picturesque canals, colourful buildings, gentle gondola rides, good food, and an ample supply of history, this is one Italian destination that sits on many a bucket list. See magnificent architecture in St Mark’s Square, the fascinating Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Basilica, and the famous Bridge of Sighs. After soaking in centuries of history, be sure to make time to simply watch the world go by with a world-class cup of coffee and a piece of tiramisu, or indeed an indulgent glass of wine and pasta dish.
Things to do in Venice:
Giudecca Island
Located in the Venetian lagoon, Giudecca Island is a small, attractive resort offering some lovely cafes, bars, and restaurants as well as pretty architecture. Over the years it has had a varied history, having been the home to some grand palaces and gardens, before becoming a centre of industry in the 20th century, particularly during World War II. One 16th century mansion has been converted into a beautiful luxury villa.
St. Mark's Square
Piazza San Marco – or St Mark’s Square – is the main square in Venice. It is one of the main attractions, and has had a vibrant role in Venetian history, having been a centre of politics, commerce, and religion over the years. Today it is one of Venice’s main attractions, being surrounded by beautiful architecture on all sides – including the magnificent Basilica di San Marco.
Bridge of Sighs
This well-known, historic piece of architecture joins Venice’s prisons to Doge’s Palace – or more accurately, the interrogation rooms in the palace. Legend says that when prisoners of the 17th century crossed the bridge into the prison, they sighed at their last view of Venice – hence the name. Today the bridge also has romantic significance, with local lore saying that lovers who kiss beneath the bridge in a gondola will have a love that lasts forever.
Doge's Palace
From the late 7th century until the late 18th, Venice had a system of doges, who acted as elected leaders of the region. Doge’s Palace – now known as Palazzo Ducale – was built in the 14th century as a residence for the doge, and for other political bodies. It was a venue used for debates, a court of law, grand events such as balls, and even had prison cells on the ground floor. The beautiful palace is located in Piazza San Marco, and was opened to visitors in 1923.
Island of Burano
Within Venice’s lagoon is the picturesque island of Burano, well known for its colourful buildings and pretty canals. First inhabited in the 6th century, Burano has long been a small fishing community, which rose in prominence with the production of lace in the 16th century – a tradition it is still known for today. Burano is a gorgeous spot to wander around, enjoy a gelato, and browse the fabulous range of intricate lace work which is available to purchase in varying forms.
Bari
DAY 2
Found on the southeast edge of Italy, Bari has long been a large and bustling port town which boasts some fascinating history. There are plenty of religious buildings to see which house the relics of various saints – including those of St Nicholas (Santa Claus), and Saint Columba of Ireland. It’s also worth exploring the Old Town and Piazza Mercantile, to get a flavour of traditional Bari life complete with fresh Italian cooking, children playing football, and of course plenty of wine. In the piazza is also the ‘colonna infame’, which dates back to the first century AD. It’s here where criminals were held in years gone by to be ridiculed and punished.
Things to do in Bari:
St. Nichola's Basilica
Dating back to the 12th century, Basilica di San Nicola, was originally built to house the remains and relics of St Nicholas (popularly known as Santa Claus), which were stolen around that time from Myra in Turkey. The arrival of the important relics is re-enacted every year in May, when locals arrive to the port by boat with an icon-style painting of the saint. This basilica is an important pilgrimage among Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians.
Bari Cathedral
Although less famous, many say that Bari Cathedral is actually a more important building than Basilica di San Nicola in Bari. It was built in the 12th-13th centuries, on the site of another cathedral that was destroyed by King William I of Sicily in the mid-12th century. It is dedicated to San Sabino, whose relics were brought to the area in the 9th century and are now stored in the cathedral. Some relics of Saint Columba of Ireland are also kept here.
Castello Svevo
It’s believed that the original castle structure was built around 1130-1135, by the Norman King Roger II of Sicily, only to be destroyed by William I of Sicily in 1156. Then King Frederick II of Sicily rebuilt it in the 13th century. Today visitors can explore some of the castle, where art exhibitions and events are often held. There is also a permanent collection of plaster cast replicas of 11th to 17th century artefacts.
Bari Old Town
Known locally as Bari Vecchia, the old part of the city is full of quaint streets and charming architecture. It provides the quintessential Italian atmosphere of narrow roads, children playing football, laundry hanging overhead, and the smells of delicious food being prepared. The streets of Old Bari can lead you to or away from the main square (Piazza Mercantile), where attractions such as the Basilica di San Nicola are located.
Piazza Mercantile
The main square of the old town, Piazza Mercantile is a vibrant social hub of eateries and bars and has been since medieval times. In around the 14th century traders came here to sell their wares – although today’s marketplace is not located here – and it quickly became the place to eat, drink, and be merry. There is some important architecture surrounding the square too, such as the 13th Colonna Infame, and the 16th century Palazzo del Sedile (old town hall and clock tower).
Column of Justice
Otherwise known as the Colonna Infame – or infamous column – this menacing lion statue and column are situated in one corner of Piazza Mercantile. The lion wears an inscribed collar reading ‘Custos Iusticiae’ – or ‘Keeper of Justice’, and represents law and order, and protection of the city. The lion dates back to around the first century AD, but the column was not installed until the 16th century. It is believed that debtors and other small-time criminals were once tied to the column to be publicly shamed and ridiculed.
Olympia (Katakolon)
DAY 3
The sleepy seaside village of Katakolon is perhaps one of the biggest tourist highlights of Greece, thanks to its close proximity to Ancient Olympia. With sparkling turquoise waters, numerous traditional tavernas and the warmth of a friendly, local community, Katakolon is the perfect place to explore on foot in the sunshine, where you’ll find museums, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, as well as horse-drawn carriage rides and even a Beer Bike!

This fantastic free museum is dedicated to the physicist, engineer, inventor and astronomer, Archimedes of Syracuse. Home to just some of his inventions and reconstructions, it’s well worth a visit, especially for those curious about his expert creations.
Archaeological Museum
Just a short walk from the archaeological site, the Archaeological Museum hosts artefacts that were discovered in Olympia. With over 3,500 years of history to discover, this small but fascinating museum will take you back in time to Ancient Greece.
Izmir
DAY 4
Situated in western Turkey, the historic city of Izmir is the third largest in the country. A vibrant port city, it lies within the sheltered Gulf of Izmir on the turquoise waters of the Aegean. One of the oldest cities within the Mediterranean, it has a prominent history dating back nearly 5,000 years and has a variety of attractions to visit including the Hisar Mosque, Izmir Clock Tower and the bustling Konak Square.
Things to do in Izmir:
Izmir Historical Elevator
Dating back to 1907, this historical building features beautiful architecture, panoramic views and a café where you can enjoy a bite to eat or a refreshing drink whilst taking in the breathtaking scenery. A prominent landmark within the city, this fully-functional elevator is a must visit whilst stopping off here.
Agora of Smyrna
Built in the 4th century BC by the Greeks, the Agora of Smyrna is a major historic landmark in the centre of the city. One of the largest agoras created, it was swiftly rebuilt by Marcus Aurelus, a Roman Emperor after it suffered earthquake damage. Over the years archaeologists have excavated the agora, and it has been beautifully restored, making it a fascinating landmark to visit whilst in Izmir.
Arkas Art Centre
Opened in 2011, the Arkas Art Centre features 9 expansive exhibition rooms with an array of contemporary art. Situated in a historical building, the exhibitions on show here showcase international artists, focusing on a variety of topics. The perfect cultural attraction to visit during your time in Izmir, the Arkas Art Centre is within easy walking distance of the city centre.
Istanbul
DAY 5
Istanbul’s history dates back thousands of years, making it an incredibly culturally enriching destination to visit. With warm and welcoming locals excited to show you around, you’ll explore breath-taking mosques with vibrant mosaics, find handcrafted souvenirs at lively markets and enjoy aromatic mezes and fresh seafood as well as locally produced wine. There’s a lot to see here, but be sure to simply explore this wonderful city to truly soak up the culture.
Things to do in Istanbul:
Basilica Cistern
One of the city’s most popular attractions, the Basilica Cistern was built in 532 and is the largest surviving cistern in Istanbul. The number of columns and the impeccable symmetry is a staggering sight and a must see, making a great escape on hot summer days.
Blue Mosque
Built between 1609 and 1616 during the rule of Ahmed I, the Blue Mosque is named for its hand-painted blue tiles on the interior walls, and the blue lights that illuminate it at night. A walk around this impressive structure is truly awe inspiring- don’t forget to adhere to the dress code though.
Dolmabahce Palace
This magnificent structure took 13 years to build and was the administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire. Take a tour of the entire palace or different sections and discover the exquisite decoration (particularly the 4.5 tonne chandelier) and the painting museum.
Hagia Sophia
Often considered the eighth wonder of the world, the Hagia Sophia was actually built three times after being destroyed, with the third and final structure being built 532-537 AD. Now, it is a museum filled with Christian and Muslim art, as well as breath-taking architecture.
Misir Carsisi
Selling countless varieties of Turkish delight, Mısır Çarşısı Market (also known as Spice Bazaar) is a fantastic place to find souvenirs, spices, snacks and stories from warm, friendly vendors. Whether you’re looking to buy or not, exploring the market is a great way to be immersed in the culture and atmosphere of Istanbul.
Sultanahmet Square
Sultanahmet Square is where you’ll find the tourist hotspots of Istanbul all in one place. Located in one of the most historical parts of the city, you’ll find the largest cistern, two stunning mosques and numerous places to enjoy authentic cuisine.
Topkapi Palace
Topkapi Palace possesses a colourful history with many sultans living there since 1481. A visit here will give visitors insight into the fascinating stories of the Ottoman Empire, through collections of armour, weaponry, pottery, jewellery and more.
Dubrovnik
DAY 7
It’s easy to see why Dubrovnik is one of the best highlights on a Mediterranean cruise. In 1979, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beautifully preserved ancient architecture that you’ll love to spend hours exploring. Fans of the hit series Game of Thrones will particularly love to recreate their favourite scenes filmed here, while history and art enthusiasts will adore the fortresses and museums.
Things to do in Dubrovnik:
Bellevue Beach
This small and intimate beach provides a quiet getaway from the crowds. Relax in the sun watching the locals play water polo, before taking a dip in the crystal clear waters and exploring the nearby cliffs and caves.
Sunj Beach
If you are looking for something relaxing but also to spend some time exploring, head along the sandy beaches and rocky paths where you’ll find Sunj beach. Here the waters range from beautiful crystal blue to alluring green where you can swim and relax under the sun with a wide range of bars to pick from.
Lokrum Island
A short ferry ride from Dubrovnik Old Town, Lokrum Island is a fantastic place for a day trip. With a beautiful botanical garden planted in the 19th century, the ruins of a Benedictine monastery and spots for swimming in the sea, you’ll love exploring this tiny island.
Lovrijenac Fortress
At 37 meters above the sea, Fortress Lovrijenac offers impressive views across the landscape. Used as a filming location for Game of Thrones, the fortress played an important role in protecting the Old City, which visitors will learn about as they explore the grounds.
Muralles de Dubrovnik
Covering 1,940 metres with 6 fortresses, the Walls of Dubrovnik are a must visit for Game of Thrones fans and lovers of architecture. Visitors can join walking tours of the walls which take approximately two hours and offer unrivalled views over the city from the forts.
St John Fortress
One of the most important forts in the Walls of Dubrovnik, it now houses the Maritime Museum and Aquarium, containing artefacts, paintings and documents telling the history of city. The aquarium, meanwhile, is where you’ll find marine life that thrives in the waters off Croatia.

The brand of beer may vary overtime. The Easy Package covers all the above served in our bars, buffet and main restaurant. What’s more, it also includes private islands, but does not cover the specialty restaurants and signature venues.
Drink packages are non-transferable and cannot be shared with other guests, being valid for one drink per order. Violation of these terms may result in cancellation of a guest's package without entitlement to a refund or credit of any kind.
Packages are sold on a cruise basis and not per day or any other basis. The price applies to all days of the cruise, except the day of disembarkation. Once activated on board, packages cannot be cancelled or refunded. Packages must be booked by all guests occupying the same cabin, travelling together and wishing to dine at the same table. This includes minors, for whom the Minors Package must be booked.
The package is not obligatory for children under 3 years of age (i.e. who have not yet reached their third birthday). The following exclusions apply: tobacco, souvenir glasses, ice cream menus, retail items, minibar, cabin service, promotions and Signature Venues such as Venchi 1878 , Jean-Philippe Maury venues, MSC Virtuosa Starship Club, MSC World Europa Coffee Emporium, MSC World Europa Raj Polo Tea Room regardless of the price of drinks, cabin service and promotions. You must be of legal age to consume alcohol. Other terms and conditions may apply. Guests under the legal drinking age with respect to the ship's operating area are not permitted to purchase or consume alcohol. Drinks and liquor may be substituted according to availability and itinerary.
Please be advised that in respect to the Saudi Law, alcohol will not be served during the Calls in Saudi Arabian ports. Alcohol will be available to our guests when the ship sails in International Waters.
