we went on the island escape last year round the med, we enjoyed it so much we have just been on thomson celebration on the red sea which was also fab. we were so pleased we are just looking at booking on the island escape again in may. it is a fairly old ship and is alittle tatty and dated in places but is spotlessly clean and tidy. the food is lovely with loads of choice, in both self service restaurants. the entertainment was really good and different every night. the crew are so friendly and helpful all the time, nothing is too much trouble. its a very easy going and relaxed atmosphere on board. if you want a friendly relaxed ship this is it, its not posh and stuffy, hence the reasonable price.

Had a fab time on this ship, the staff were very friendly and catered to all our holiday needs. It was a very relaxing holiday, our cabin was a little bit dated but very cosy and kept spotless by the staff, the food was very good you could eat anything you wanted no complaints. we did our own shore excursions which was very easy to do, plenty of taxis at the docks and sometimes we did not need to use the as we were near the port towns. will go back on this ship one day.

Just back from a week's Cruise in Oct. It was our first Cruise and we had a ball. Food was good, Staff Excellent and places we visited were good also. Never been on a Cruise before and didn't know what to expect but it was great. Knew it wasn't 5 Star but still great value for money

Was my 1st cruise, so wasn’t sure what to expect but I must say I had a fabulous time on this ship.. Yes the cabins are in need of some TLC but they are kept very clean we had an outside cabin but you could not really see out the window.. Cabin 5036. . The staff are so very friendly and entertainment was good they do work very hard throughout the day some say can be a bit like Butlins style. I do agree to a certain extent with the game shows etc etc and events around the pool deck. . The evening entertainment was very good. Well what can I say about the food except excellent. 3 restaurants to choose from and one is open 24hours a day so you can eat, eat and eat all day long, you will just have to buy new clothes when you return home. The check-in from the airport until you are on the ship is brilliant so organised and very fast, and the same on your departure.

Went last year for 1 week got inside cabin on 6th floor for 3 of us and was very impressed. Service on board was amazing, food was great and we had a great holiday entertainment was very good I cant stress enough how great and friendly the staff are and not pushy like some holidays we have been to, would recommend this ship to anybody and any age will defo be back

Was our first cruise, with four other adults, all of whom had cruised before. From start to finish thought it was fabulous. The organisation, could not be faulted. The helpfulness and pleasantness of all the staff was second to none, from the cabin stewards, in our case Andrew on deck 3, through to the staff in both restaurants, reception etc. The food and variety and service, where applicable, was absolutely top of the tree, and according to the rest of our party, far outweighed some of the more expensive cruises they had been on. Drinks in the bars and entertainment venues were all at realistic prices, very similar to the high street prices, in certain parts of the UK. Finally, the entertainment staff put on resplendent shows, almost every night, acting, singing and dancing in a very professional manner. On our cruise, one night we were entertained by a Frank Sinatra tribute act, which was ok, and a second night we laughed until our ribs ached at Bobby Knutt. The only slight moan we would make is that the cabin carpet and shower area left a lot to be desired and was in need of a refurb.

Just back 2 days. Had a fantastic time on a 14 night cruise, food is first class entertainment is second too none and the crew are the friendliest I have met on a cruise, my only complaint would be our cabin it smelled of damp from a water leak in the cabin next door and took a couple of days to have it dried out by our hard working steward Elvin, also we paid for an outside cabin but could not see through the window because the double glazing was steamed up between the panels. Apart from this I would still go back as it was very good value for money and great company on board. CABIN 5034

Have just come back from the Island cruise, this being our first Cruise, and it wont be our last. We chose a balcony, very, very pleased we did, the cabin was more spacious than we thought, with tv, shower, and single beds, which were very comfortable. We enjoyed standing on the balcony every evening when the ship set sail, and everyone on the quay, waving, it felt like royalty. All the shows were excellent and very talented people all whom are very friendly, the cabin staff couldn't do enough for you, and were very attentive, and very friendly. Food was excellent with a good choice of 3 resturants, serving a wide variety, of food to suit all tastes, the midnight buffet, was very good especially when you had come out of a show, and was hungry, no wonder people put on an average, 2lb per day. The whole ship was very clean, and tidy, so were the staff, the toilets were clean and spotless. The shops were very reasonably priced no dearer, than high street shops and sold a wide array of goods including sweets, biscuits. etc. The reception staff were very helpful and didnt force trips on you, if you were exploring on foot, they even gave you a map to help you. Every evening, an itinary was put through your cabin door to tell you what was going on for the following day, activites, quizes, demonstrations, etc very informative. I wouldn't hesistate to tell all my friends about the fabulous cruise.

We have just returned from a week on island Escape and had a lovely time on the "friendliest ship on the med". The crew were great, food good and plenty of things going on to keep everyone happy. We were disappointed to be allocated a outside cabin with a lifeboat stuck in front of the window but overall even though its "getting on in years" Island Escape is in good shape. Plenty of sun beds on the decks and because she takes only 1500ish passengers who enjoy a casual lifestyle the atmosphere is very friendly. The cruise is most suited to middle aged couples and ageing rockers. The cruise covered Palma, Marina di Carrera, Villefranche, Propiano and Minorca Mahon. All lovely places to visit and a good agenda for first times. Drinks prices are on a par with UK Pubs (I.e. £3.10 for a pint of Stella). We are booked to go on Independence of the Seas with Iglu cruises on 5th June so it’s a case of "Little V Large".

After reading a few reviews we were worried i must admit about joining the ship. However on arrival we found we had nothing to worry about. Yes the ship could do with a refresh and the bathrooms especially, but the service from all the crew and the good entertainment and was v good. I think for the price we paid it was very good value for money. The food in both restaurants were good, (we did not try the Oasis).The daytrips were a bit on the expensive side and we could not afford to go on all the trips, but enjoyed walking around the ports. We enjoyed it that much we have just booked another week in January to another destination. The people we met on the ship were friendly and we had a good chat to them. My husband was happy because there was draught bitter (Boddingtons) and I drank Stella Artois, as we were all inclusive he was in his element.
