just back from twelve day cruise on the Indie, round the med in hunt of some winter sunshine. Our first time on the Indie, and it proved to be a great chance to enjoy this amazing ship. When I first saw it I was gob smacked by its size, but the fears I had about too many people were soon sorted, as even though there were four thousand holiday makers aboard the only time you saw them was when it was a at sea day, even then there were places to get away and find space .We had a stateroom with balcony right at the back of the ship, which was very nice and we were well looked after by our room steward. Who surprised us in the evenings with delightful creatures created from small hand towels. The food was so amazing and the onboard ritual of all of us taking care with personal hygiene and hand washing, saved us all from bad tummies. The on board entertainment was excellent, and a wide variety to please all types of needs. then there was the more physical activities. water sports, climbing, sun bathing for those not so enthused. In all a brilliant experience to be enjoyed and refreshing. Thank you to all the people who worked very hard to make it so special.

I loved my last hol on Indy and I am going again, but must say my family who like a drink or two will not be going because of the drinks prices and because there will be 32 of them. Another cruise ship it will be, but Indy I love you.

I loved the independence of the sea its such a beautiful ship and I loved the fact it sails from Southampton we went on the ship last year in July 2010 and then again in Nov 11th -29th Nov for 18 days around the meds it was fantastic well recommended food, staff entertainment, crew everything is perfect cant wait to go on board again

Just returned from an 18 day cruise, and although the ship was actually too big for me, you could not fault the facilities, the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff, the huge range of food options and the first class entertainment. I did not expect to be impressed but was. The only down side for me personally was finding out how many rude, offensive, overbearing older people can be contained on such a large ship. I am over 60 myself but was frequently embarrassed by the way other people spoke to staff or abused the facilities, and in particular the people who were using wheelchairs or motorised scooters and expected everybody else to let them get into everything first and have first choice at all functions. The staff on this ship had the patience of saints with these overbearing, rude arrogant people so if you are the type of person who goes on holiday and likes to find fault and look for things to complain about, go on this ship because the wonderful staff will satisfy your every need very politely and not even smirk when you walk away - a skill very few English staff would have.

Ship huge. Food excellent. Sometimes felt a bit overcrowded. Crew pleasant and helpful. Facilities good. Best to avoid cruises in school holidays if you've not got children with you. Balcony cabins to be recommended. Overall it's good value for money and worth sampling. Tipping policy is inflexible and strange, especially if you've paid in advance. It seemeed some duty free items no cheaper than High St. prices at home. A few passengers need to be quieter and behave while considering others.

Travelled on Independance of the Seas on 11th November from Southampton to the Eastern Med for 18 day cruise. Due to computer malfunction two hours to board. Then one hour queue for lunch. Queue for every meal, lift, disembarkation, embarkation, every show and every seat when at sea. Food good, service excellent in particular care of cabin excellent. Dress code only loosely adhered to with any form of clothing appearing in the self service restaurant.!! This was our first cruise and will be the last. It has been a very expensive learning curve.

We have just returned from an 18 day Cruise on the Independence to the Med. It was an wonderful holiday, staff fall over themselves to help cleanliness is there motto a wonderful experience , will go back again.

Independence of the Seas was a well decorated ship, but there were always too many people. The stateroom was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. I love the entertainment, especially the ice shows. However, there were too many people queuing up. The main dining room was grand and the food was god. Although I needed to pay a small surcharge for the inner in Johnny Rocket, I still though that it worth it because the burger, fries and onion rings were very yummy. And I love the milkshake too! There were also many shops and bars along the high street. Never boring!

We had a 11 nights cruise with Independence of the Seas in October and found that it was a very big ship. However, it accommodated too many people and there were always a lot of queuing and waiting. Sometimes we even felt that we could use "crowded" to describe it. For entertainment, there were a wide variety of activities for different kinds of passengers and we really appreciated the good entertainment provided. The ice show was really a very good show, however, queuing was the problem as it was too popular. My favourite port was Madeira as it was a beautiful place.
