The Zaandam is a magnificent lady of the sea. The state rooms are a good size with plenty of space to put your clothes away into. The bathrooms are not too bad some have recently been upgraded but not the one we stayed in. The public areas are comfortable and have a charm about them with the decoration to suit. The dining room is rather elegant with the huge chandeliers, white tablecloths and a middle section raised up by two steps. There is plenty of chairs outside and always sunbeds if needed. In fact I have no complaints with the Zaandam I really like the smaller ships.

Holland American are very proud of their relatively small ship, 1,400 capacity. I must say that the interior stateroom that I had was very spacious and had all the amenities I wanted. The catering was OK, there were limited opportunities to help yourself and there were times when no catering was available, other than room service.
The itinerary involved some quite brief port visits and information on TV could have been more detailed in respect of what was available and port info.
