Holi- the photogenic festival

by Andy Stoll of No Boundaries

If you enjoy festivals and photography this is the tip for you: “One of the best photogenic festivals in the world and a must-not-miss annual event is Holi, the 2nd holiest of Hindu holidays (behind Diwali) and is celebrated in the spring in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

“During the 1st day of celebration, usually falling in March or April, participants throw coloured waters and powders on each other, making it both a fun event to watch and a fun event to participate in. Take your camera for sure, but make sure to bring something to protect it from the water and the semi-permanent dyes in the coloured powders.”

Many travellers never forget to take their camera, so Holi is certainly a worthwhile event with which to become well-acquainted with using it, ensuring that the memories stay just as vivid as the colours.
