Wonderful fairy tale cruise. Amazing staff. very comfortable cabin - tea in bed in the morning. Fantastic sights. Food was out of this world and we loved dressing up for the formal nights. Lots to do, good shopping on board. Met loads of lovely people. Door to door service was excellent. Our cabin steward was very attentive This cruise was faultless , thank you.

The most wonderful service from a Phillipino crew who were unbelievably attentive and polite. The cabin was excellent, The food was the best I've ever had on a ship. We were lucky with the weather too.

Excellent cruise The staff couldn't do enough for me..Food was excellent plenty of choices.Disapointed most of the people on the cruise had paid a lot less for the same cruise.

Best of the Baltic cruise, Saga Sapphire, 8th - 23rd September, 2016 Checked in at 3.15 in Dover. A very nice outside cabin, 7038, and just a short walk to Reception, the Aviators bar, and the Pole to Pole restaurant. We sailed at 4.00 and, not long after clearing Dover harbour, we were treated by Saga to a 15 minute flying display by two Spitfire fighter aircraft from Biggin Hill. Amazing! This was our third voyage on Saga Sapphire in 2 years, and it was rather nice to see familiar faces amongst the staff and to be greeted by name. Our prior (excellent) experiences were repeated on this 15 day voyage.....excellent service, good food and quality complimentary wines. If you wished, you could order wines from the standard wine list, with a £10 per bottle discount,but the complimentary wines were so good that this would only be necessary for celebrating a very special occasion. We visited seven ports, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg, Tallin, Ventspils, Gdansk and Wismar.....all interesting destinations although Ventspils is probably still climbing the learning curve for tourism. It was our second visit there and my wife and quite like its quirkiness (especially the bovine street art!) We were also impressed with the flower displays all around town. With calm seas and slight winds for the whole voyage, we could not have wished for better on this cruise holiday. Just a few spots of rain for 20 minutes in St Petersburg, and that was the totally of 'bad' weather. I have to mention the efforts of the catering staff and the hard work they put in for lunchtime events outdoors on the Verandah terrace, and for the fabulous Russian Buffet that was put in place in the Pole to Pole restaurant on our overnight stop in St Petersburg. The entertainment was of high quality. We enjoyed the Greek classical guitarist, Dimitris Davakallis, and the Polish violinist. Michael Bacala who each gave two excellent performances. Also aboard were the Think Pink Duo (Marta and Gabi Onali) from Rumania and, along with many other guests, enjoyed dancing to their music late at night in the Drawing Room. They very kindly burnt us a CD of some of their recordings so that we can continue enjoying their music post-cruise. This was a truly enjoyable holiday. Thankyou Saga.

As well as the Roman ruins, the excellently preserved Dover Castle and the Roman Painted House featuring impressive murals, visitors will find numerous seafood restaurants and bars along the waterfront to relax in. Perhaps the most iconic landmark in the port city of Dover, Dover Castle was built in the 11th century and is Grade I listed. A key defensive castle, it’s operated by English Heritage and offers several events throughout the year, including pirate shows and canon displays.
White Cliffs
For incredible views out towards France, head to the White Cliffs of Dover. Reaching 350 feet, this prominent attraction is popular with tourists and locals alike due to the fantastic walking trails. Within easy reach of the castle and port, its striking appearance makes it a must see when stopping off or cruising from Dover.
Connaught Park
Alternatively, you can head inland to Connaught Park; a spacious park that has lots of trails, a playground, tennis courts and breathtaking views out towards Dover and the channel. On sunny days, cruise ships can be seen docked at the port.
Lorient
DAY 3
A quaint port town, Lorient makes for a wonderful stop off during your cruise. With a rich history and seafaring heritage, it's a vibrant town that's host to several events throughout the year. Top attractions in Lorient include Base de Sous-Marins, Lorient Beach and the nearby Alignements de Carnac.

Base de Sous-Marins
If you're looking for something that's a little unique, head to the Base De Sous-Marins. Abandoned by the Ministry of Defense in the late 20th century, it's an iconic attraction with a lot of history and heritage. An interesting place to visit, you'll learn all about the Flore-S645 submarine that's situated in the heart of the former submarine base.
Lorient Beach
If you're looking for some r&r, why not head to the picturesque Lorient Beach. Within easy reach of the town, you'll be able to unwind on this golden beach, enjoy a swim or simply wander around all of its surrounding amenities.
Alignements de Carnac
Less than an hour from the town lies the Carnac Stones. Made up of over 3000 standing stones that were laid by the pre-Celtic population of Brittany, it's the largest attraction of its type in the world. Thousands of years old, it's a fascinating place to visit whilst stopping off in Lorient.
Bordeaux
DAY 6-7
As you enter the beautiful city of Bordeaux, you'll be treated to the views of the 18th-century architecture that lines the quayside. In the old quarter of the city you'll find quaint streets and St Andre Cathedral as well as the 12th-century Sainte-Croix Church and numerous museums. Don't forget to enjoy a guided walking tour of the Golden Triangle to truly get the most out of this historic city.

Place de la Bourse
One of Bordeaux, France's most identifiable landmarks is the Place de la Bourse. It is made up of a number of beautifully designed buildings created by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel that was constructed along the Garonne River from 1730 to 1775. Contributing to the city's trade, beloved reputation and the overall growth of Bordeaux, it's been a prominent attraction for centuries.
Cathédrale Bordeaux
The Bordeaux Cathedral, also known as the Primatial Cathedral of St. Andrew of Bordeaux, is a Catholic cathedral situated in the heart of Bordeaux, France. Devoted to the beloved Saint Andrew, it also serves as the archbishop of Bordeaux's residence.
National Opera
In 1780, the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, an opera house in the vibrant city was opened. The ballet La fille mal gardée made its debut at this theatre in 1789, and a young Marius Petipa presented some of his first ballets there as well. Victor Louis, a designer, created the theatre. A popular attraction to visit, the magical architecture is perfect for those wanting to capture the beauty of the city whilst stopping over there.
La Rochelle
DAY 8
A centre for fishing and trade since the 12th century. Wander round the old harbour, take in Renaissance architecture, and sample local oysters!

La Rochelle Aquarium
A family-owned aquarium situated in the centre of the city, the La Rochelle Aquarium is home to more than 12,000 animals. A popular attraction to visit, you’ll learn all about the 600 species that live in the aquarium, from what it takes to care for them to their origins.
Musée des Automates
If you love to learn about automotion, this museum is the place for you. Opened in 1993, this museum is home to more than 300 contemporary and historic models, historical scenes and more. Replicating Parisian street scenes, sailing vessels and other landscapes, this extraordinary attraction is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the centre.
Grosse Horloge
Known as the gateway to the old part of the city, this Gothic-style clock tower dates back to the 12th century. A fascinating landmark that’s often photographed, Gross Horloge is a must see when stopping off in La Rochelle.
Le Havre (Paris)
DAY 10
This charming port town in Normandy is the gateway to France's chic capital, but is also a destination in its own right. Stick around the coast to explore the Musée des Beaux Arts and the D-Day beaches, or go on an optional shore excursion to Mont St Michel, the medieval town of Rouen, or into Paris.

St. Joseph’s Church
One of the most beautiful landmarks in Le Havre, St. Joseph’s Church was built 50 years ago and has a unique post-war design, with a 107m high ceiling, and a combination of concrete and stained glass. Situated in the centre of the city, this marvel of architecture is worth a visit when in Le Havre for a stop over.
Hanging Gardens
The 19th-century Hanging Gardens provide an outstanding view of the sea, the Seine estuary, and the rebuilt city. They are housed in an ancient fort. From the top of these gardens, the World Heritage Site of Le Havre comes into view.
Art Museum
If you love history, or the grandeur of French architecture, the Maison de l’Armateur is a must see. Situated within a stately 18th century mansion, it features beautiful and historic artwork, furnishings dating back to the era of Louis XVI and an impressive octagonal atrium.
