Salalah
The city of Salalah is known as the “perfume capital of Arabia.” The city is a popular destination for tourism due to the natural attractions of the nearby mountains and abundant stands of frankincense trees lining mountain wadi courses. Around the city and into the mountains the countryside is lush and green during the monsoon period with the vegetation supporting herds of cattle. The climate supports wildlife often more commonly associated with East Africa, such as leopards and hyenas. The beaches and coastline are also major attractions for scuba diving and bird watching.

Suez Canal Transit
Lying at the Red Sea end of the Suez Canal, the busy Egyptian port of Suez can also be your starting point for exciting trips to Cairo and the Pyramids at Giza. If your ship goes through the Canal, be out on deck throughout the transit, as it is one of the world’s most fascinating maritime experiences, creating the bizarre impression that you are sailing right through the dry heart of the desert. The present, 101-mile-long Canal took 15 years to build, was completed in 1869 and shaved a mere 7,000 miles off the journey from England to India. It is the second to cross the Isthmus of Suez – the first was constructed in the 5th century BC and was in use until the 8th century.

Had booked package which included flight to Toronto and then on to Niagra falls, and then flight to New York instead of long rail journey, and sailing home on Queen Mary. No complaints at all about the cruise, throughly enjoyed and lived up to expectations. Usually Iglu packages are excellent but, the transfers using Niagra Airbus were very stressful and disappointing. On arrival at Toronto airport we went to ground transportation and registered for transfer to Niagra. There was a bus in and we were expecting to get onto this. We heard the driver say "Oh let them get the next bus" Not acceptable after a long flight! The next one arrived and the driver said "oh I have very little room for luggage left what have you got in here the crown Jewels," We only had our flight allowance!! Our luggage was crammed in a front seat. We opted to take a flight from Toronto to New York instead of the long journey by rail. We were dismayed to find Niagra Airbus was to take us again. We telephoned for a time for pick up and they said 9.15 for an international flight and needed 1.5 hours time to get to airport. Time was short and the driver informed us that we would be last drop off and he had a pick up to do from someone's home which required a detour. The driver was then informed he needed to pick up a further 2 passengers. The time was slipping away and our tension increasing, we had to beg the driver to drop us first and we made the plane boarding with 3 minutes to spare. This experience is not one I would wish to repeat and spoiled our holiday. Private transfer would be much more appropriate and this service is not what we have come to expect from Iglu packages. Our New York stay and cruise was as expected and thoroughly enjoyable . The embarkation at New York sea terminal was swift but we were spoken to in rather gruff and officious manner and we felt herded onto liner like cargo. not fee paying passengers !
