Dunedin
Located on the Otago Peninsula on the South Island of New Zealand, the bustling city of Dunedin has strong links to Scotland in terms of history and architecture -- so much so that its name means "Edinburgh" in Scottish Gaelic. This port city is becoming quite popular with cruise-ship passengers, thanks to a compact city center, interesting museums and galleries, chocolate-focused Cadbury World, fresh seafood at a variety of restaurants and several interesting shore excursion options.
10 Christchurch
Christchurch
Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island of New Zealand, and the country's second-largest urban area. It lies one third of the way down the South Island's east coast, just north of Banks Peninsula which itself, since 2006, lies within the formal limits of Christchurch.
11 Wellington
Wellington
New Zealand’s capital and cruise port Wellington, is blessed with a wonderful setting, overlooking a glittering harbour filled with bobbing sailing boats. Behind the gleaming modern skyscrapers of its centre, you will find the city’s history well preserved in some outstanding old buildings – notably the old Government Building, built in 1876, which is the second-largest wooden building in the world.

Auckland - Overnight onboard
New Zealand’s biggest city and major cruise port, Auckland, sits between the Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea, which is how it came to host the America’s Cup twice - in 1999 and 2002 - attracting investment to transform the harbourside into a superb meeting and eating place which all visitors can now appreciate. ]The Viaduct Harbour area now boasts outdoor restaurants ideally placed to view the hundreds of yachts attracted to this icon of sailing success. This ‘City of Sails’ is also home to New Zealand’s impressive National Maritime Museum which charts the nation’s seafaring history.

Not value for money The ship was DULL Daytime entertainment lacking, was only suitable for ball room dancers. Very little deck entertainment, again only suitable for small amount of passengers. Lido buffet food repetitive and basic. Excursion desk staff - not sure of their information All in all, very disappointed.

Enjoyed the cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and return, much as we expected after doing a little research on the ports. Air Transat leaves a lot to be desired, narrow seats, no choice of meal left we they got to us near the back of plane. Mac cheese was absolutely disgusting just one solid mass of cold pasta. A cabin steward suggested ordering special meals and that worked for the return flight. It took an hour to find our taxi transfer from the airport into Vancouver. Not enough information was given on our transfer voucher, it was lucky that another taxi driver recognised the phone number provided and put us in the right direction. Trips from the ship were expensive although we did do 3 as the Alaskan ports were only very small towns and there is not a lot to pass the days on. 169 dollars for whale watching and we only saw the backs of most and just 3 whale tails, and 4 stellar sealions, basking on a buoy. The lumberjack show in Ketchikan was fun.
