Things to know
Dietary Restrictions
Rocky Mountaineer trains can accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. It’s important, though, that you inform the company directly of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking – or, at least 60 days prior to travel – to ensure appropriate meal arrangements are made.
It’s also recommended that you complete a Rocky Mountaineer Food Allergy Form, and then send that form to your travel professional or Rocky Mountaineer directly, if you suffer from any food allergies.
Accessibility
Rocky Mountaineer is committed to making its trains as accessible as possible, but there are some limitations you need to be aware of if you’re a wheelchair user or someone with mobility issues.
Passengers with mobility issues, or other accessibility needs, should inform Rocky Mountaineer in advance to arrange for suitable accommodations. While the Rocky Mountaineer trains are designed to be accessible, the availability of certain features or services may vary depending on your individual situation.
For passengers who can transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, with mild mobility issues, a hydraulic lift will be available to transfer you onto the train in your own wheelchair – which must be 23-inches (or less) wide. Then, you will be transferred to a 15-inch-wide wheelchair onboard, which will allow you to navigate the aisles in the railcar freely.
And, for passengers using wheelchairs full-time, Rocky Mountaineer can accommodate using tie-downs; however, there are a limited number of coaches with tie-down features and their availability may limit the travel dates available to you.
Tips and Gratuities
To make your journey seamless, gratuities for your Onboard Hosts and culinary team members have already been included in your package price.
Service Upgrade
Rocky Mountaineer packages are based on the SilverLeaf Service available as standard, but can be upgraded to GoldLeaf Service if requested.
With the GoldLeaf Service, you’ll enjoy a journey on a bi-level Rocky Mountaineer coach with a dining room and outdoor viewing platform on the lower level. Meanwhile, with SilverLeaf Service, you’ll travel in a single-level coach with meals and beverages served directly to your seat (something that is also available if you wish in GoldLeaf Service coaches).
Insurance
If you choose to travel to Canada, it’s important that you get the appropriate travel insurance for your itinerary, any planned activities, and any medical expenses you may require in an emergency.

Things to know
Dietary Restrictions
Rocky Mountaineer can accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. However, it’s important to inform the company directly of any dietary restrictions at the time of booking – or, at least 60 days prior to travel – to ensure that appropriate meal arrangements are made.
It’s also recommended that you complete a Rocky Mountaineer Food Allergy Form, and then send it to your travel professional or Rocky Mountaineer directly, if you suffer from any food allergies.
Accessibility
Rocky Mountaineer is committed to making its trains accessible, but there are some limitations you need to be aware of if you’re a wheelchair user or someone with mobility issues.
Passengers with mobility issues or other accessibility needs should inform Rocky Mountaineer in advance to arrange for suitable accommodations. While trains are designed to be accessible, the availability of certain features or services may vary depending on your individual situation.
For passengers who can transfer from a wheelchair to a seat, a hydraulic lift will be available to transfer you onto the train in your own wheelchair – which must be 23-inches (or less) wide – and then you will be transferred to a 15-inch-wide wheelchair onboard – which will allow you to navigate the aisles in the railcar freely.
For passengers using wheelchairs full-time, Rocky Mountaineer can accommodate using tie-downs – though there are a limited number of rail coaches with tie-down features and their availability may limit the travel dates available to you.
Tips and Gratuities
To make your journey seamless, gratuities for your Onboard Hosts and culinary team members have already been included in your package price.
Service Upgrade
Rocky Mountaineer packages are based on the available SilverLeaf Service as standard, but can be upgraded to GoldLeaf Service if requested.
With GoldLeaf Service, you’ll enjoy a journey on a bi-level Rocky Mountaineer coach with a dining room and outdoor viewing platform. Meanwhile, with SilverLeaf Service, you’ll travel on a single-level coach with meals and beverages served directly to your seat (something that is also available with GoldLeaf Service).
Insurance
If you choose to travel to Canada, and on Rocky Mountaineer, it’s important that you get appropriate travel insurance for your itinerary, any planned activities, and any medical expenses you may require in an emergency.

We saw LOTS of whales consistently throughout, plenty of Eagles, sea otters and even bears. The crew members were so friendly welcoming and helpful and although people say the standards have dropped. In case you haven’t noticed standards in society have dropped everywhere since Covid! But Cunard and the quality of the ship still outweighs most uk 4 star hotels - I travel for work and stay in a lot! Weather was super kind too with only two days of cloud and showers. It was warm too. I did two fishing excursions that were OK but I would in future book my own to avoid going with beginners. We did two whale watching tours but again if honest you do not get that close and if you take time to spend looking away from the ship during transmitting from different ports. You’ll see just as much! Transfers from the airport to hotel went well with a private limo but the transfers although marked as private transfers were not private and we shared with another couple in a van, I couldn’t be arsed to challenge. The ports are very small and so excursions are recommended but we booked a sea plane in Juneau on the dock and it was easy and cheaper than booking through the ship. Some people said they had not seems whales but I think these people spent longer inside the ship - going to shows etc. we spent a lot of time on deck 3 and from balcony on deck 8. Unfair for us to comment on entertainment as we bored of cruise shows so only did two. Read More
