We had a very good time and loved the Queen Elizabeth. The crew were very pleasant and our cabin was very well looked after. We also felt the ship was not overcrowded unlike some other cruises we have been on. We thought Iglu did an excellent job of organising our holiday, which was not just a cruise but also a visit to the Niagara Falls. All the hotels and transfers were very good.

While aboard Rocky Mountaineer, you’ll be afforded the opportunity to marvel at iconic sights such as the Spiral Tunnels, the Continental Divide, and the dramatic Kicking Horse Canyon. A train ride designed for comfort and luxury, featuring large panoramic windows that provide you with uninterrupted views of the natural wonders found in this region, this comprehensive experience comes complete with gourmet meals throughout the day and attentive service from station to station. Awaken your senses with a bite to eat and a warm coffee in the morning, admire the staggering beauty of the mountains stretching up into the skies with lunch, and relish in the serene lake views of the Shuswap Region as you approach Kamloops in the afternoon. This journey is perfect for those seeking a memorable and leisurely way to explore the majestic beauty of Western Canada; it’s without a doubt one of the best ways to travel through this part of the world.
Things to see:
Hoodoos
Striking rock formations millions of years in the making, the Hoodoos can be spotted along the Rocky Mountaineer route near Banff; shaped by centuries of wind and water erosion, and standing an impressive five to seven meters tall, these sandstone pillars rise dramatically from the surrounding landscape and add to the scenic beauty of the Canadian Rockies.
Craigellachie
A quaint village in British Columbia, Craigellachie is the historic site where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven into the ground in 1885 – an act marking the completion of Canada’s first transcontinental railroad.
Kinbasket Lake
Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, Kinbasket Lake is a vast, serene reservoir known for its stunning mountain views; a popular spot for activities like camping and fishing, you’ll enjoy fantastic views of this stunning slice of British Columbia from the comfort of your Rocky Mountaineer carriage.
Kicking Horse River
Named in 1858 when, reportedly, explorer James Hector was kicked by his packhorse while exploring the river, the Kicking Horse River is renowned for its powerful rapids and vibrant turquoise waters; winding through the Canadian Rockies, this river offers thrilling whitewater rafting experiences alongside the breathtaking scenery you’ll enjoy on your journey.
Spiral Tunnels
First opened in 1909, the Spiral Tunnels are an engineering marvel and a true highlight of this Rocky Mountaineer route; a series of twisting tunnels and dramatic loops navigating the steep slopes of the Canadian Rockies, this remarkable route allows trains to safely ascend and descend the rugged terrain of the Kicking Horse Pass and Yoho National Park.
Castle Mountain
Dominating the rugged landscape surrounding Banff, Castle Mountain is a dramatic – and iconic – feature of the Canadian Rockies; with castle-like peaks lending themselves to its striking silhouette, the summit of this staggering sight is over 9,000 ft high.

Museum of Pop Culture
“MoPOP” has regular exhibits celebrating everything pop culture and contemporary. Founded by Paul Allen of Microsoft in 2000, MoPOP is a great day of viewing original lyric notes, legendary instruments and even cinema, gaming, fantasy and sci-fi exhibits.
