When it comes to what’s included in your fare, there’s a mix of casual restaurants and fine dining venues for guests to enjoy – and you can enjoy it any way you want with Princess Cruises’ improved dining options. From the Burger and Hot Dog Grill to the pizzeria and Horizon Court, the choices are endless and you can experience them through one of three table service options: Traditional, Reservable, and Walk-in Anytime.

If you’re looking for something a little more formal, though, the main dining rooms offer multi-course meals, sophisticated décor and equally attentive service.

Princess Cruises' Speciality dining

For those willing to splash out on something a little more intimate, Princess Cruises’ speciality restaurants are bound to please. Options include Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Bistro Sur La Mer, and Kai Sushi.

Food Allergies and Special Dietary Requirements

If you have a special dietary requirement or a food allergy, you'll be pleased to know Princess Cruises is making every effort to ensure that you can still enjoy all the excellent cuisine available onboard. As long as you make sure you inform your cruise consultant and the cruise line no later than 65 days before your departure, and then let your Head Waiter know when you're onboard, you will find all your needs catered to. If you want more information, you can find out more about Princess Cruises' current policies in our blog on the best cruise lines for food allergies and special diets right here.

Family Staterooms

With Princess Cruises you have plenty of choice when it comes to family-friendly staterooms, ranging from luxury to value options. For great value there are the three and four berth inside and outside staterooms, though you have to remember these cabins consist of pull down beds, meaning a twin bed option is available but a king size configuration is not. The balcony cabins usually consist of a king/twin bed option and a double sofa bed. This is usually suitable for adults, though sometimes cabins can involve pullman beds so it is always worth double checking with your cruise specialist at the time of booking.

You can also choose from a variety of interconnecting cabins which are usually two cabins of the same grade, so inside to inside or balcony to balcony. To book interconnecting cabins an adult is required to be booked into each stateroom and they are often booked up very quickly during school holiday periods.

MedallionClass and Ocean Medallion

Princess Cruises’ innovative onboard technology – the Ocean Medallion – is a small, wearable gadget that guests can take advantage of to reap a whole host of benefits, all of which promise to make enjoying your cruise getaway even more effortless.

Convenient and discreet, the Ocean Medallion can be carried around in a pocket or a wallet – like a standard keycard. However, you can also wear it with a clip, or in the form of a bracelet or necklace.

If you want to find out more about the Ocean Medallion, and the benefits of MedallionClass itself, you can check out our blog on Princess Cruises’ MedallionClass experience right here. Although, we’ll go over some of the basics below.

How does the Ocean Medallion work?

The Ocean Medallion itself contains sensors which gather a range of data from guests; this data is then stored on a digital platform known as OceanCompass and can be used to navigate your cruise ship, find fellow guests, and even take advantage of OceanNow – a ship-wide delivery service akin to room service.

While you won’t be able to access this information and these services through the Ocean Medallion itself, given its small size and lack of screen, you will be able to via the Princess Cruises mobile app, your in-cabin (or in-suite) television, and interactive touchscreens located throughout the ship.

What are the advantages of MedallionClass and Ocean Medallion?

This technology has a plethora of uses, some of which outlined above, which many guests will find helpful. Some of the most useful of those are:

  • Faster boarding and disembarkation – you can use the Princess Cruises app to upload important documentation ahead of time and register your Ocean Medallion before you board.
  • OceanNow – this unique service lets you order food, drinks, and more to wherever you are on the cruise ship; it’s perfect if you want to pre-order drinks before a show, or if you need some extra sunscreen poolside.
  • Easier entry into your stateroom – the Ocean Medallion acts as a key to your accommodation while onboard, replacing keycards, and actually unlocks your stateroom door when you’re nearby, making it even easier to get in and out.
  • JourneyView - you can also use the Princess Cruises app and MedallionClass services to book onboard experiences and shore excursions.

Other benefits include: delivering the best Wi-Fi at sea, bookmarking onboard events, reading sample menus from onboard restaurants and bars, navigating the ship with point-to-point directions, and OceanView – a film and television service available via stateroom TVs and the Princess Cruises app. Your Ocean Medallion will also act as a method of wireless payment on your Princess Cruises’ ship, as it’s connected to your online account.

Accessibility

Depending on the class of ship, Princess Cruises offer up to 31 accessible staterooms onboard — including inside, outside and balcony cabins, mini-suites and one suite. Princess will make a case by case decision as to whether wheelchairs and scooters are allowed onto tenders.

Princess Cruises’ dining experience updates

Princess Cruises voyages departing from September 14, 2024 onwards will feature an improved dining experience in all main dining restaurants where guests can take advantage of three table service options: Traditional, Reservable, and Walk-in Anytime.

With personal preference at the forefront of this new experience, Princess will designate separate main dining rooms on every Princess Cruises ship one of the three table service options – one offering traditional table service, one offering reservable dining times and tables, and one which will support walk-ins anytime.*

This will not affect any existing bookings in any of Princess Cruises’ speciality restaurants, and guests will be able to use Princess Cruises' app from June 17, 2024, to opt into Reserved dining.

*On Coral Princess and Island Princess, Reservable and Walk-in Anytime dining will be combined into a single main dining restaurant.
