Italian Coast, Greek Wonders & Ancient Kingdoms from Rome with Stay, 26 July 2024 (23 nights)

The ship is kept immaculately clean throughout,staff first class ,our stateroom was kept pristine. Food in the Main dining room-the Pinnicle and the Canelleto excellent--the Lido market a bit hit'n'miss but O. K. Meeting up in the World Stage for tours and disembarkation very well organized. We where fortunate to have been on the ship after it had a bit of a makeover recently ,all new carpets and curtains throughout the ship and lots of the furniture has been replaced . On the negative side the entetainment in the World Stage was dreadful with the exception of one night , Chris Bannister who was amazing ,apart from Chris it was the worst theatre entertainment on a cruise ship I have experianced. The Crows Nest on this ship is dreadful,a Crows Nest on a cruise ship is where maybe after dinner you would go for a relaxing drink with a pianist or similar playing------This awful place had people playing games at tables the so-called 'CAFE' is worst than a McDonalds,the staff were doing their best to cope with people queuing-for a coffee. There are almost 2000 people on the Oosterdam and on the "dressy night" I was the only one wearing a dinner suit { tuxcedo]the downside of this ship it has no class or style---it is aimed at a VERY VERY casual market . Finish on a possitive ---the itinerary was great.

Overall we enjoyed the cruise, the stage entertainment was weak compared to other cruise ships. The food was good but Helen found there was a lack of choice as she does not eat red meat.

The ship is looking at bit tired. It was going into dock at the end of the cruise for a 2 week refit. Staff were brilliant at all times. A bit disappointing that in the last few days the crew were getting ready for the refit and materials were left out on deck. Most of the port were commercial and noisy and we had to be bussed off. This could have been quite limiting if you didn't plan

We were very impressed with the standard of service and facilities. The staff were all amazing. So welcoming and so good at remembering our names. I’d like to pass on particular thanks to our cabin stewards, Sam and Putu, we were in cabin 4040. They took good care of us and were always super quick at fulfilling any requests we made. The staff in the restaurants were equally friendly and helpful. . Special thanks to the bar staff at the Pinnacle and the Observation deck. Leaving the ship was made so easy and was efficient and on Tender days they took great care of us and supported us so kindly. The Captain and his officers were excellent. Despite changeable weather we were able to enjoy the cruise come what may. The morning we stopped at the glacier was magical and I think special praise to the Captain for manoeuvres to get us so close to appreciate the awe and wonder.
