Norwegian Spirit Reviews
View Cruise DealsEnjoyed the Spirit very much, great cabin with a balcony 9006. We declined paying the 12 dollars per person each day as we tipped each time we bought a drink 15%. Go to the reception the second to last day before they make up your bill, we didnt realise everyone has to be off the ship by 9 o'clock, not good if you have late flights so check before you book. Trips quite expensive, our highlight was the best of Madeira trip. Casablanca very dissapointing horrid place. This was our 3rd cruise and we really enjoyed it, would definetely book with Norwegian again.
Just returned from a cruise in Barcelona/Casablanca/Canary Island/Malaga. Enjoyable, but entertainment not very good. Food very good. Ship nice but all announcements are made in several languages which takes time. Would cruise with them again.
I have just returned home from a 9 night cruise on Norwegian Spirit. The ship was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and helpful and all appeared to be genuinely happy doing their jobs. There was an excellent choice of dining facilities and the food was excellent. My only concerns were around all costs being in US Dollars so needed a calculator each time to work out the price in pounds! I was prepared for Euros but the US Dollars caught me out. Also a 15% surcharge was added to all publicised drinks prices. Said to be a tip but you could add your own tip on top of this if one wished to! Finally, and my biggest issue was a $12 per person per night surcharge added as a Service Charge (in our case totalling ÂŁ135). I managed to establish that this was optional but they would not allow it to be removed until I signed an exemption form on the night before the cruise finished. I didn't pay anything but I heard several others arguing between themselves blaming small print etc I do think this is a steep addition and it was only by luck I found it was optional. I tipped individuals as I felt necessary. Please be aware on any future cruises!

We returned from our cruise on board Norwegian Spirit last Saturday having enjoyed an amazing 14 day holiday. We spent the first two nights in Hotel Delfino in Mestre. This enabled us to enjoy some of the wonders of Venice. We purchased a 36 hour travel pass from the hotel which allowed us to travel into Venice on a bus and use the Vaporetto to sail on the Grand Canal as often as we wanted. Great value. We boarded the ship at lunchtime on the Monday and our cabin was ready for us. We booked an inside cabin and it was perfectly adequate with plenty of storage space and a good shower room. The bed was very comfortable and our cabin steward Lorenzo looked after us very well. The ship is beautiful with all original features. This was our first freestyle cruise and it was fabulous. The two main dining restaurants are excellent. Being able to choose where and when to eat is a real bonus. We were a party of 6 adults and we never had to wait for a table. The waiters were friendly and efficient, the food fantastic. The only surcharge we paid was for the brunch served in the Garden restaurant on our last sea day. The food was great and we were entertained throughout by the Jazz showband. A truly memorable 'tailor made' cruise. Thank you IGLU for your excellent service. A perfect holiday.
Just returned from a fantastic 12 day cruise of the Med on the Spirit. The ship and staff were fantastic.
The cabins are in need of refurbishment but the food variety and standard of service was excellent. The entertaiment was varied and very good. A very good itinerary which was well managed, we would definitely cruise with NCL again.
One of the best cruises I have been on. It's a fun ship full of happy people. The staff genuinely do their best to ensure every passenger has a great holiday. The ship is beautiful and clean. From the dining areas, to the bars and lounges, every part of the ship oozes with elegance. The cabins are well appointed. We stayed in balcony cabins which were spacious and had nice bathrooms. The balcony was small but adequate and there was plenty of storage space in the staterooms. The captain of the ship, Captain Lars was very humorous and was visible at a lot of events. The other officers were also very friendly and did a good job in looking after their staff and passengers. The cruise director Jill and her deputy, JJ ensured that the entertainment provided was top notch whether it was in the stardust theatre or at any of the daytime activity venues. All the evening shows were superb especially the comedian British juggler and the production show 'Elements' both of which got standing ovations. All the ports of call were excellent with lots to do. From cable cars and toboggan rides in Madeira to volcanoes and lava fields in Lanzarote, there was so much to see at each port of call. We did all the excursions with the ship and they were reasonable priced and all were excellent and well organised. I would recommend this ship to anybody. It's suitable for all ages and is guaranteed to give you a vacation of a lifetime.
We were also on NCL Spirit on 22/2/13 9 nights from Barcelona. Having been on 2 formal cruises more than 12 years ago, we loved the freestyle cruising idea and it was the only way I could get my husband to go back on a cruise. We could chose when to eat and where to eat and the choice was excellent. From breakfast right through, it was all quality and well presented. We had lovely steaks most nights in windows or the gaarden room restaurants which were more formal than the buffet. We did not eat in any of the speciality restrurants as there was really no need. We especially loved the battered fish in the Blue Lagoon and would like to mention the chef Romoan? and the staff there who got to know that as soon as we sat down the order was fish. I don't think anyone would be disapointed with anything on the NCL Spirit. Crew members were all great and couldn't do enough for guests. Our room was excellent even though it was an inside stateroom. There was so much to do on the ship that we did not spend too much time in it but it had everything we needed with lovely white towels, good quality shower gel, shampos, soap and a hairdryer in the bathroom, which was a good size. Electricity sockets: there were three U.S., UK and european at the mirror which was beside the large wardrobe. The safe was easy to use and was free of charge. Our stewart Randy was excellent always smiling. He spoke to us everytime we met him he also left us a lovely animal made from the towels on the bed each evening. We did not need to bring pool towels as they are supplied in the room. The effort that NCL put into preventing the spread of germs with Washy washy hand sprays everywhere and staff ensuring that everyone used them was brilliant. The shows were all very professional and the theatre was luxurious. Daytime entertainment is ongoing and there isn't enough time to do everything so no one could say that they are bored. We got off the ship at all the ports and enjoyed doing our own thing. We twice went on the hop on hop off red bus and in Miderra we went up in the cable car and down in the toboggan which was the highlight of our holiday. I would recommend this cruise line to anyone now and we are planning our next cruise already.
