Norwegian Spirit Reviews
View Cruise DealsJust returned back from a lovely cruise on Norwegian Spirit to the canaries. The ship is lovely and spotlessly clean. The food and restaurants were excellent. We had a outside cabin with a picture window which was lovely. The only downside of the cabin was the bathroom as my husband is disabled and there wasn't much room for him to manoeuvre. There were no disabled cabins available when I booked so we took a chance and we managed. The staff are all very friendly and polite apart from the reception staff. I found certain staff on reception to be a little frosty. I ordered the soft drinks package which was supposed to include flasks so I didn't take mine. The flasks never arrived and when we asked at reception we were told they didn't have any. As it was my 50th birthday we also ordered the birthday package for the cabin. We were in Barcelona that day and expected to come back to a nicely decorated cabin, but that didn't materialise either. When I went to reception I was told there had been a blip in the system and the manager would contact me the next day. When we returned to our cabin about 5pm there was a letter asking me to go to reception. I was told that the birthday package wasn't followed through because I didn't put a time slot in. There was nothing asking for a time slot and as your birthday is all day I think they were just looking for excuses. The receptionist said that if you didn't put a time slot in the birthday package would be supplied on day 3 of your cruise, as I was on my 4th day by this time that didn't happen either. The money I paid was refunded to my account with no apology and no compensation which I thought was really bad as a 50th birthday is a special occasion. We didn't let that spoil our cruise though and had a lovely time. Iglu cruise arranged our flights and transfers and all our documentation and as usual this was all very easy and straight forward. Well done Iglu at least you got it right. The only downside to the cruise was that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin. All in all I would recommend Norwegian Spirit to people who like not getting all dressed up and dining at whatever time suits your appetite.
We have just returned from a 10 day cruise in the Spirit, on first impression the state rooms seemed a little tired but they were very comfortable. Having sailed on the Epic in Sept 2014 and the food being exceptional I felt that the food on Spirit was a little bit of a let down. On the plus staff the atmosphere was fantastic the crew and staff were second to none and I would go again without hesitation. My main criticism was that we flew from Gatwick South and returned to Gatwick North . We were not pre advised of this and it made it stressful on our return flight to have to try and sort out where the car was.
I also forgot to mention our cabin man Mark, room 8021, was very helpful and eager to make our stay comfortable. The towels display we had in our room was fantastic and brought a smile to our faces every night when we came into our cabin past 1am. WELL DONE MARK AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

We done the Mediterranean cruise on the 16th December 2014 and we had the best xmas ever. The crew were fantastic, The shows were 1st class. Everyone works very hard to give you a great time and we did. We did read some reviews on this trip from others, but to be honest, these people need to stay at home because everyone on the ship will bend over backwards for you to have a good holiday. You must also bare in mind that the crew are away from home for 10 months and to keep a smile on their faces at this time of year when they are away from home is very hard going for them. WELL DONE TO ALL OF YOU. The entertainment was world class. The itinerary was varied with lots to do. Laurie at the champagne bars and ironics at the galaxy excelled and thoroughly entertained us. Fantastic holiday.
The cruise offered outstanding shows, average food, little public space and was very was 'tired' in places despite its refurbishment. Staff were friendly and worked hard but their lack of training showed at times. Dress code needs to be applied more effectively as several people were were wearing flipflops and trackie suit bottoms in the 'more formal' restaurants despite recommendations of a jacket and long trousers for dinner. Overall the cruise offered a decent break at a very reasonable cost but don't expect luxury.
Had a great time. Ship understandably a little tired in comparison to newer ships, but entertainment far superior. Food areas public areas staterooms all spotless . Friendly attentive staff and superb activity programme. Plenty of smoking areas and relaxed atmosphere throughout the ship. Loved it!
Florence. Cruise 26 Sep 2014. 12jour. Excellent good service and good cleaness. Room and extra fun shows. I took a shore excursion from the ship and it was very well organised. We had a good vacation.
With some degree of trepidation, we booked this 3 star ship for a 12 day Eastern Med cruise during April/May, because we are actually Royal Caribbean fans. We've read many previous reviews, therefore our expectations were low. We booked for the ports, especially Istanbul. Yes the ship is old and a wee bit worn, however the excellent staff, good food and enjoyable entertainment made this a great cruise. Our only criticism was the decision, on Turkish Authority advice, not to call into Istanbul, because of 1st May demonstrations. This unrest is an annual event, therefore it is breathtakingly crass misjudgement, most probably planned in USA, to visit this port on 1st May. Albeit nearly half of this review is critical, the cruise was value for money. We encountered complainers on the cruise and other reviews, but would advise them to try a 4 star cruise line and most probably pay much more.
Just returned from a trip on Norwegian Spirit. It is an old ship with hardly any stabilisers therefore tossed from pillar to post. Some of the staff are very rude. The food was average and if you wanted anything for a change you had to pay a supplement. The main dining rooms served the same menus every evening except for one or two changes. The entertainment on the ship was again very average.
