18 Feb 2025
Norwegian Sky is an older and smaller ship in the NCL fleet but it’s worn well.
The balcony cabins were clean and comfortable but compact with limited clothes storage for 22 days. We moved cabins as NCL had two bookings for our B2B but was handled well by the cabin stewards.
Food was far better than expected although we ate in the Palace dining room or specialty restaurants for dinner. We would have a served breakfast in Crossings restaurant and at lunchtime if open.
The buffet food service area is too small restricting options and we found it to be far too crowded for our liking.
The thing that makes the ship is the crew, everyone appears to be happy in their job always smiling and welcoming.
The reason for four stars is the poor communications provided by the management especially with the number of entry documents required for the itinerary. Example information provided was either incorrect or missing required information. The immigration process at Ishigaki and Keelung was chaotic and badly managed.
There were some excellent ports of call, Borocay, Coron, Ishigaki, Naha and Kota Kinabalu were all memorable.
Entertainment onboard suited our needs with decent musicians though at times the length of each performance was limited.
NCL included basic drinks package is adequate but limited as it doesn’t include water or specialty coffees also there were beers on the menu that were not available for the duration of the cruise.
Issues with transfers arranged by IGLU were inconvenient but would recommend the use of Grab taxi booking application as it was invaluable in many locations.
Overall we would sail with NCL again if the itinerary was to our liking
