Norwegian Cruise Line Covid-19 safety measures
Before stepping onboard, all guests and crew will undergo health screening, as well as temperature monitoring throughout the cruise, to identify and prevent the spread of health issues. Check-in will be done online and embarkation will take place in a staggered manner to ensure social distancing can be maintained.
Onboard NCL ships new safety measures will include full-service buffets with staff serving guests and increased social distancing throughout the ship and during activities.
In the event of illness onboard, NCL have enhanced medical resources onboard. These include diagnostic testing for COVID-19, medical oxygen, medication and vaccinations, as well as ongoing health and safety training for crew and isolation accommodation if needed.
Once on the ship, measures include state-of-the-art air filtration to ensure that the air onboard is clean, and increased cleaning measures including more frequent sanitation of staterooms, suites and public spaces.
Prior to and throughout their cruise, crew will be required to undergo health screening, such as daily temperature checks.
NCL ships will only visit safe ports, meaning that itineraries may be changed. The cruise line will also make sure that tour operators and land partners adhere to strict hygiene measures so that guests can enjoy their time ashore.
Travelled from Boston to Quebec in September 2018. We had a mini state room with balcony. High standard of cleanliness and attention by most of the crew. One of the photography staff was quite rude. But this was the exception rather than the rule. The cafeteria was a bit hectic therefore we always ate in the venetian restaurant or in one of the pre-booked speciality restaurants. Some of the entrainment was quite good though on sea days there was not enough going on to interest us. whilst there were numerous bars on board, there was only a small library where one could escape the music and just sit in a lounge situation rather than a bar. One good thing is that compared to our last cruise 2 years ago on Norwegian they do tell you a little bit about the port of call for the independent traveller. Excursions were expensive and so we only went on one trip and then it was not value for money. Enjoyed our cruise and would be happy to return to Norwegian in the future.
My wife and I were disappointed of the Dawn's food. Serving a piece of chicken in a bowl of water doesn't meet our critia of a chicken dish. I thought the food was rather bland. Le Bistro was fine but Aqua was not. The Garden restaurant was delightful. The general condition of the stateroom was OK, but needs a lot of improvement. One sure sore spot was the lack of 110v outletsl given all of today's electronics. Also the shows in the Stardust Theater was very poor. Inl our week long cruise only two shows were worth looking at in our opinion. As platnum crisers we expected much better from NCL When in port and underway chipping paint outside our balcony was outrageous, we could not rest Alll things considered, we will not give up on NCL. Overall Ncl is still the best cruise line of them all.
Travelled from Boston to Quebec and return at end of September 2014. Excellent ports of call and the weather was good - clear blue skies all but one day. Although the ship was large, from our experience, but this did not prove to be a problem. The embarkation and debarkation was so streamline - no waiting to get on and off the ship. The same applied to the ports of call even when tendering was necessary at two ports. The food was very good but the Venetian Restaurant proved to be very noisy and busy so used the Aqua and the Garden Café - did not use the speciality restaurants as felt there was no need to pay extra for food. The lunchtime buffet was particularly good. Accommodation was excellent - had a sea view stateroom but no balcony, ensuite roomy and well stocked. The staff were really friendly and helpful and there seemed to be a high ratio of staff to guests. The entertainment was also very good particularly in the Atrium but insufficient space for all those wishing to watch. One of two disappointments - the sea days (2) lacked good activities - no cinema except on two days when in a port. The biggest drawback seemed to be the lack of a good lounge where one could read in comfort and watch the world go by. The library was in the middle of the ship - no windows and very small. Good experience nevertheless and would use Norwegian again.
The stateroom of Norwegian Dawn was quite good. It was nice, clean and spacious. Our room was inside one with no window, but there was one really big bed for two of us. It had a TV set with remote control. The size of the toilet was quite big, also with shower. There were also small table and small chairs in the room. The wardrobe was nice and spacious, even with spaces for shoes! It was really good enough for two people. As we had brought a lot of clothes with us, we really appreciated the good size wardrobe. Moreover, the food on board was nice too. Overall we had a good experience this time.
