5 Mazatlan
Mazatlan
..This was our favorite port call on the Mexican Riviera itinerary, a nice sample of the "real Mexico." Located on Mexico's Pacific Coast, just below the Tropic of Cancer, Mazatlan (the name means "land of deer" in the ancient Nahuatl language) has a population of 600,000 and a history that includes pirates, who probably stashed their booty here to hide it from Spanish galleons. Spanish explorers used the port in the 1600s. German immigrants put the place on the map in the 1800s as they developed the city as a port for shipping cargo, and Mazatlan continues to be one of Mexico's major cargo ports (exports include some 40 million pounds of shrimp per year).

6 Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta
The small, quaint fishing community of Puerto Vallarta, with its cobblestoned streets that seemed to climb straight up to the jungle behind it, was recognized as a city of Mexico in 1918 but was largely unknown to the rest of the world. But in 1963, during the filming of John Huston's "Night of the Iguana," the sleepy town was invaded by reporters hoping to catch a glimpse of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor, who were carrying on their illicit love affair -- and a tourist industry was born.

Being one of the Dutch Antilles, Aruba still retains its Dutch charm. You will notice this when you see the many windmills that are to be found in the island. Aruba is characterised by fine beaches, sapphire blue waters, almost year-round sunshine and exotic cactus. In the capital Oranjestad, admire the pastel coloured houses and the palm-lined streets. Then go snorkelling and discover the incredible coral formation and tropical fish. Other highlights include gold mine ruins in the countryside, Guadirikiri Caves and the fascinating natural limestone bridge. If you like shopping, you’ll love Aruba and its fabulous shops and outdoor markets.

Willemstad, Curacao
Curacao is one of the Dutch Antilles. This is reflected in the Dutch cuisine served in the island’s restaurants and in the Dutch-style houses of the capital Willemstad. Here shopping is superb…the ‘Floating Market’ alongside the canal is well worth checking out. You will find anything from tropical fruits and vegetables to local handicrafts. Visit the dramatic Hato Caves, a series of grottos with underground waterfalls and ancient Indian petroglyphs, or explore the spectacular Curacao Sea Aquarium, where you will see around 400 exotic species of marine life. Dive in the sapphire blue waters near the beautiful coral reef and experience feeding turtles and stingrays. Then discover Curacao’s Ostrich Farm, where you will see how the ostrich develops from an egg to the largest bird in the world. Before you leave the island, you must try the famous Curacao’s fruity liqueur.

Fabulous ship, brilliant staff and crew. Stayed in a studio stateroom, plenty of room for a single traveller, and the ‘virtual window’ means the stateroom does not feel claustrophobic. The studio lounge is great, primarily for those in the studio staterooms providing a great space to meet and enjoy hot and cold drinks, along with snacks. The provision of activities and meetings specifically for Solo travellers was great, so that those who travelled alone could have the company of other solo travellers if they wished. New friendships have been established, and a brilliant time had by all in our solo group. I would throughly recommend the Norwegian Bliss, and can’t wait for my next cruise
