As well as being one of the top global ports to start and finish your cruise, Fort Lauderdale has plenty to do either side of your ocean adventure. Why not take a trip to the Flamingo Gardens Wildlife Sanctuary, peruse some culture at the Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District, or take a boat tour through the everglades and waterways as well as passing impressive Millionaires’ Row.
Things to do in Fort Lauderdale:
Flamingo Gardens Wildlife Sanctuary
This non-profit park area is the place to go for some tranquil downtime as you explore the serene waterfalls and pools that are home to brightly plumed flamingos. The gardens are also home to rescued wildlife such as other birds and reptiles as well as boasting some giant tree species.
Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District
Covering a 22-block area, this exciting part of downtown offers plenty to see and do from Garand Opera House, History Center, Art Museum and plenty of dining options and evening entertainment just a short distance from the cruise terminals.
Bonnet House Museum
A beautiful and historic house in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Bonnet House is included on the American National Register of Historic Places. It was built by prominent artist Frederic Clay Bartlett and has picturesque architecture and a botanical garden.

Horseshoe Bay

Pendennis Castle

Lighthouse
A fully-functioning lighthouse, Portland Bill Lighthouse is a Grade II listed building which stands at an impressive height of 135 feet. Built over 140 years ago, this historic lighthouse offers the perfect backdrop for your stopover in the Isle of Portland.
Portland Castle
Henry VIII built Portland Castle, an artillery fort, on the Isle of Portland in Dorset between 1539 and 1541. It was a component of the King's Device plan, which guarded the Portland Roads harbour from French and Holy Roman Empire invasion.
Sculpture Park
A former stone quarry that has been transformed into a stone sculpture park, Tout Quarry Nature Reserve and Sculpture Park features over 60 hidden sculptures in the Quarry, including Anthony Gormley's "Still Falling" sculpture. From the park you can take in the breathtaking views of Chesil Beach and Portland Harbour. For people who enjoy nature, especially wild flowers and butterflies, the park is a paradise.

One of the most beautiful landmarks in Le Havre, St. Joseph’s Church was built 50 years ago and has a unique post-war design, with a 107m high ceiling, and a combination of concrete and stained glass. Situated in the centre of the city, this marvel of architecture is worth a visit when in Le Havre for a stop over.
Hanging Gardens
The 19th-century Hanging Gardens provide an outstanding view of the sea, the Seine estuary, and the rebuilt city. They are housed in an ancient fort. From the top of these gardens, the World Heritage Site of Le Havre comes into view.
Art Museum
If you love history, or the grandeur of French architecture, the Maison de l’Armateur is a must see. Situated within a stately 18th century mansion, it features beautiful and historic artwork, furnishings dating back to the era of Louis XVI and an impressive octagonal atrium.

Having undergone numerous refurbishments, Dover offers much more than just the stunning white cliffs and its fascinating history. As well as the Roman ruins, the excellently preserved Dover Castle and the Roman Painted House featuring impressive murals, visitors will find numerous seafood restaurants and bars along the waterfront to relax in. The town's close proximity to the cruise port makes it an idyllic spot for easy exploration, as well as a relaxing hotel stay before or after your cruise.

Dover Castle
Perhaps the most iconic landmark in the port city of Dover, Dover Castle was built in the 11th century and is Grade I listed. A key defensive castle, it’s operated by English Heritage and offers several events throughout the year, including pirate shows and canon displays.
White Cliffs
For incredible views out towards France, head to the White Cliffs of Dover. Reaching 350 feet, this prominent attraction is popular with tourists and locals alike due to the fantastic walking trails. Within easy reach of the castle and port, its striking appearance makes it a must see when stopping off or cruising from Dover.
Connaught Park
Alternatively, you can head inland to Connaught Park; a spacious park that has lots of trails, a playground, tennis courts and breathtaking views out towards Dover and the channel. On sunny days, cruise ships can be seen docked at the port.
