Many cruise lines are saying that they do not want to undercut passengers with their own prices as the cost of some ferry holidays are falling.
As a result, many companies are now offering to honour current, discounted fares by offering passengers a cabin upgrade.
Joanne Schimelman, vice president of national accounts with Royal Caribbean International, said: "Our policy is that if you book early you should be confident that you will pay the best price for the cruise and the best value."
As extra reassurance, she added: "We will protect the rate up to 24 hours prior to the sailing if it goes down."
However,
Holland America Line said that it is usually up to the customer or the travel agent to alert the cruise line about the change in the fare price.
In related news, Holland America recently announced that it is to increase the number of cruises it operated to Bermuda to 24.
