]]>The adult-only, intimate ship has been sold to Azamara Cruises, and is due to end its time with P&O in spring 2018 – with its final cruise with them being a Caribbean adventure starting in February and ending on 9th March.
Adonia will be greatly missed by her loyal passengers, who enjoy her welcoming and sociable atmosphere and incredible discovery itineraries in the Caribbean, Europe, and Icelandic Fjords. Customers should rest assured, however, that these wonderful destinations will be made available on other P&O cruise ships.
The cruise line has also promised that the cruises in Adonia’s final season will be nothing short of the memorable P&O standard that has come to be expected across all ships. Not only will guests be able to enjoy the relaxed and traditional ambience that is ever-present on Adonia, but they will also have chance to be part of the special, celebratory aspects that will no doubt be seen onboard the esteemed ship as she ends her P&O career.
If you currently have a booking with Adonia that departs after March 2018, our change control team will be contacting you to explain your options over the coming weeks.

]]>P&O Cruises announced plans for the new ship back in September 2016 and since then has been teasing us with snippets of information. Scheduled for delivery in 2020, the new ship will homeport in Southampton and will be the largest and greenest ship for Britain's best loved cruise line.
Paul Ludlow, Senior Vice President for P&O Cruises said of the new ship
“This new ship will be the first new launch for P&O Cruises in five years and will play a pivotal role in redefining the brand and broadening our appeal. It is therefore incredibly important that we have a name that reflects the ship’s heritage as well as highlighting the array of new cruising experiences it will offer – something memorable and dignified that reflects its position as the new star in our fleet.”
You can submit your entry to the new ship naming competition via P&O Cruises' official website.

What we already know about the new ship:
P&O Oriana will cruise a partial transit through the Panama Canal, one of the world’s greatest manmade wonders.
Cruises to Northern Europe
Dreams can come true in 2018/2019 with P&O Cruises sailing to Norway for nature’s best light show, the Northern Lights. Both P&O Aurora and P&O Oriana will also make exciting overnight calls in Alta and Tromsø, Norway, for an unforgettable insight into Nordic culture.
The naming of a ship and a bottle smashing over the bow is a long held tradition that marks the official start of a ship's journey. Previously naming Royal Yacht Britannia, Cunard's QE2 and P&O's Oriana, Her Majesty The Queen was the ultimate figure to name the largest ship ever built for the British market.
During a lavish ceremony where P&O pulled out all the stops, the red carpet was bursting with exciting entertainment including a performance from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, dancing from the Strictly Come Dancing stars and a salute from The Tigers parachute team. Hosted by Rob Byrdon, from start to finish the ceremony was a truly proud moment for all attending and watching worldwide.
After a inspirational speech from David Dingle, Chief Executive Officer of P&O Cruises, Her Majesty took to the podium with Captain of Britannia, Paul Brown. Following her official blessing of the ship, she pressed the all important button that released the bottle to smash against the hull. Followed by cheering, confetti and an instrumental version of 'Britannia', it was a moment that will be remembered forver.
After the ceremony, Her Majesty went on a guided tour of the ship where she enjoyed the numerous venues, met the crew and dined in one of the luxurious restaurants.
Other celebrities present at the ceremony includde Darcy Bussell, Tess Daley, Anneka Rice and Sally Gunnell.
Britannia will set sail on her maiden voyage later this week before spending the summer months exploring the Mediterranean and Norwegian Fjords.

]]>Brodie's Great British Beer Menu on the line's new ship Britannia is set to feature over 70 different bottled beers, ales and ciders from 56 UK countries. Included on the menu will be exclusive ales, gluten-free beer, unique stouts and specialty beers including Chocolate Tom from Robinson's Brewery in Cheshire, Orange Peel from the Wadsworth Brewery in Wilsthire and Ginger Hale from Bath Ales in Somerset.
Experts from P&O Cruises have spent months finding the beers from all over the UK and have visited thousands of brewers from smaller, local ones to large, well-known ones. Some of the brewers visited included Windsor & Eton Brewery in Berkshire, Whitewater Brewery in Belfast and Hall & Woodhouse in Dorset.
The beers can be found in Brodie's which will have a classical pub decor and offer the perfect place to meet with friends and relax over a glass of beer. Named after one of the founders of P&O Cruises Brodie McGhie Wilcox, it will also be a venue to find live music, karaoke and quizzes.
Christopher Edgington, Marketing Director for P&O Cruises said "The UK boasts more breweries per head of population than any other country in the world with the industry growing at over 10% each year. This new beer menu celebrates the growing popularity of traditionally made British beers and ciders and reflects our aim of showcasing the very best that Britain has to offer."
Britannia is the biggest ship ever built for the British cruise market and will debut in March 2015. Sailing from Southampton on a range of Mediterranean itineraries, you can see our Britannia Cruise Deals here.

Launched in 2000 she is one of the smaller P&O Cruises fleet and carries around 2000 guests. Her scheduled refurbishment is set to coincide with the introduction of the new union flag and blue funnels design that will eventually roll out across the fleet.
During her refurbishment she will gain new restaurants such as Sindhu and The Glass House. Both restaurants have proven to be extremely popular on Azura and Ventura.
Other new features will include a new Costa Coffee, upgraded casino, the introduction of Freedom Dining and improvements to the Oasis Spa.
Christopher Edgington, Marketing Director of P&O Cruises said "It's all part of our ongoing commitment to ensure continuous improvement of our ships and consistency across the fleet. As the very first ship to display our new livery, we have big plans to welcome Aurora back in Southampton."
Starting on November 29th '14 in Hamburg, her refit is scheduled to be complete on December 18th '14 ahead of her 14-night Christmas and New Year cruise.
