On what will be the only occasion ever, all three
Cunard Cruises Queens converged on their home port of Southampton yesterday.
Cunard queens
Queen Elizabeth 2,
Queen Victoria and
Queen Mary 2 were greeted with cheers and applause as they rendezvoused at the UK port on the afternoon of Tuesday April 22nd 2008.
Queen Mary 2 and
Queen Victoria both made way for their esteemed sister ship
QE2, who celebrated her 39th anniversary on the same day as the royal meeting.
"This is an unmissable sight, one that Southampton has never seen before and one that will never be seen again," the BBC reported Southampton's town crier as relaying to fellow spectators.
QE2 is due to retire after over 40 years of service in November, at which time it will be converted into a floating hotel off Dubai.
Queen Victoria is Cunard's newest ship and was christened by the Duchess of Cornwall in December 2007.
