In a landmark move for the sector,
Royal Caribbean is giving decision-making power to teen cruisers.
The company has created an unprecedented Teen Advisory Board to ensure that young voyagers enjoy a cruise experience tailored to their needs, interests and desires.
"Teens are more travel-savvy than their parents were at their age and they actively participate in the planning of the family vacation," explains Alice Norsworthy, Senior Vice President of Marketing with
Royal Caribbean.
"As an industry leader in innovation,
Royal Caribbean is thrilled to be working with this unique group of teens who have helped us better cater to the interests and preferences of youths aged 12-17," she elaborates.
Recommendations suggested by the board include onboard jam sessions for young musicians, Nintendo Wii gaming, and a teen-only dining option.
These initiatives will be piloted on the brand new
Liberty of the Seas vessel - set to make its New York debut on May 4th - before being implemented on the rest of the line's first-rate ships.
In related news,
Royal Caribbean recently announced an exciting new Vitality programme for health-conscious cruisers.
