The devastating earthquake that left thousands of people dead in Haiti did not affect the scheduled activities of Cruise operator
Royal Caribbean Cruises in the region.
Independence of the Seas, which is operated by the company, sailed into the country on Friday (January 15th), bringing with it much-needed relief supplies for victims of the catastrophic disaster.
The 3,654-passenger cruise liner was the first ship to call into Haiti since the earthquake struck and Royal Caribbean announced that more resources will be provided.
Liberty of the Seas and
Navigator of the Seas are also expected to deliver more supplies on Monday and Tuesday (January 18th), Royal Caribbean vice-president John Weis said on the company's blog.
"The supplies we are sending include rice, dried beans, water, dried milk and a variety of other canned items," he wrote.
"This effort is going to be a marathon, so we will be partnering with Food For The Poor on the distribution in Haiti."
