Queen Elizabeth 2 is a ship which captures the world's imagination while symbolising the "romance" of ocean travel, it has been claimed.
Carol Marlow, Managing Director of
Cunard Cruises, commented that
QE2 is an "amazing" liner, as the ship joined sister ship
Queen Victoria in Sydney yesterday.
The first ship sailed past the latter in the early evening, making history off Fort Denison in Australia.
"Sydney has been her most frequent port of call in Australia over the years so we're thrilled that it's the setting for this magnificent Royal Rendezvous on her final visit today. It's a fantastic way to celebrate three great milestones," Ms Marlow commented.
She listed the landmarks as Queen Victoria's maiden world voyage, her first ever call to Sydney and QE2's final world voyage.
Queen Victoria was recently christened in a ceremony led by the Duchess of Cornwall at Southampton.
