The launch of new ships such as
Royal Caribbean Cruises' new vessel
Oasis of the Seas will help the UK cruise industry grow, according to the Passenger Shipping Association (PSA).
Penny Guy, a spokesperson for the PSA, said that cruise holidays are becoming increasingly popular among Brits because they are offering the best value for money in the current economic climate.
"We are anticipating continued growth in the UK cruise market next year with the introduction of dedicated ships for the market, together with the general increase in interest in cruising as a holiday," she said.
She added: "Although it isn't completely recession proof, we feel it has been more resilient than a lot of the other parts of the holiday industry."
Oasis of the Seas is due to launch in December 2009 and will bring to the market a variety of industry firsts, including the most unique and varied collection of onboard entertainment.
The ship will also boast a 600 capacity AquaTheater, which will have the largest and deepest pool at sea.
