Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) is set to build the world's first floating ice bar.
The bar, which will house tables and seating sculpted from ice, will feature on one of NCL's new-generation F3 ships which are expected to be unveiled in 2010.
NCL said it is also planning to construct a range of other themed-bars, including an exclusive VIP Halo Bar, POSH Beach Club and Asian-inspired Spice H2O, which will serve up exotic food and drink in authentic Chinese noodle boxes.
Stephen Park, NCL UK general manager, commented: "Every experience on board will be unique. F3 won't have massive void spaces and rooms used just for one activity, these venues have multiple uses for sunbathing, bowling and dining, as well as being party playgrounds."
The launch of the ice bar will not be the first time the cruise line has made history,
NCL was the first company to offer bowling and internet cafes at sea.
