MSC Cruises has announced that
MSC Poesia is to call at Katakolon on the Peloponnese peninsula of Greece in summer 2008.
The purpose of this stop-off is to allow cruisers the opportunity to visit Olympia, the site of the first ever Olympic games 776 BC.
In August, the 2008 Beijing Olympics will take place in Asia and this cruise could appeal to fans of the games.
On the excursion, passengers can see archaeological remains of the ancient stadium which once boasted changing rooms, gymnasia and temples.
Other destinations visited on the
European cruise holiday include Bari in Italy where holidaymakers can see examples of Byzantine and Arabic cultures as well as Istanbul in Turkey and Dubrovnik in Croatia.
Romantics onboard can also enjoy a visit to the famed water city of Venice in Italy.
MSC Cruises recently announced that guests booking a stateroom on a 2009
European cruise before July 31st will receive an Extra Early Booking bonus in the form of shipboard credit.
