Despite the global financial crisis still being far from over, this year may offer the best time for holidaymakers to enjoy a cruise break on board a luxury vessel, CruiseCritic.co.uk has suggested.
Carolyn Spencer, the website's editor-in-chief, believes that people can experience luxury for much less of an outlay due to the current state of the economy.
Cruise holidays have become much more affordable as companies battle for custom, with luxury agents witnessing record sales inquiries due to the size of the discounts on offer.
Ms Spencer advises potential cruise travellers: "High-end cruise ships are one of the few places you can still find real luxury, and - crazy as it might seem - this year may actually be the right time to take that exotic trip or luxury cruise you have always dreamed of.
"Decide on a budget and see what you can get for your money."
An increasing number of destinations are now being visited by vessels, with holidaymakers gaining the chance to head to destinations in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Baltic.
These can be enjoyed from cruise lines including
Princess Cruises,
Costa Cruises and
Celebrity Cruises.
