Royal Caribbean's newest cruise liner,
Liberty of the Seas, has had its official naming ceremony.
The 21st
Royal Caribbean ship, Liberty was officially named by godmother Donnalea Madeley, a travel agent who won a competition of 2,500 exemplary female travel agents to win the honour.
Royal Caribbean has high hopes for the 160,000-tonne cruise liner, which will feature a number of new programmes based on comments from previous guests.
"We have listened to guest feedback and with the launch of Liberty of the Seas, we are proud to introduce new and enhanced on board programmes to give vacationers even more choices when cruising on our ships," said Adam Goldstein, President of Royal Caribbean International.
"Our new programming will be rolled out fleet-wide this year, giving people even more reasons to book a Royal Caribbean cruise vacation."
Liberty of the Seas is the stable sister of
Freedom of the Seas, both of which are set to be joined by a third Freedom-class ship, Independence of the Seas, next year.
Last week
Royal Caribbean announced the appointment of its first female cruise ship captain, with Karin Stahre-Janson becoming captain of
Monarch of the Seas.
