The Keel has been laid for
Royal Caribbean Cruises' Allure of the Seas ship.
When she launches in 2010, Allure of the Seas will span 16 decks and share the title as the largest and most revolutionary ship in the
world with its sister ship, the
Oasis of the Seas.
The laying of the keel signifies the placement of the first block in the dry dock where the ship will be constructed.
Allure of the Seas will weigh more than 220,000 tonnes and house 2,700 staterooms.
As with her sister, the Oasis of the Seas, the Allure will be divided into several distinct neighborhood zones, in order to offer guests the widest possible choice of experiences.
The zones will include a Central Park area and a pool and sports section.
Oasis of the Seas is set to launch late next year and will be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
