The Independence of the Seas is to be as large as her sister ships and share in their claim to being the largest ships in the world,
Royal Caribbean Cruises has revealed.
The latest liner in the
Royal Caribbean Cruises fleet was floated out over the weekend, making the transition from dry dock to wet dock ahead of her maiden voyage in May 2008.
Now, final finishing work will be carried out on the luxury cruise ship - whose features are to include cantilevered whirlpools overlooking the ocean, an aqua park, a surf simulator and a boxing ring.
"[The] Independence of the Seas will share the title of worlds largest cruise ship with her sister-ships,
Freedom of the Seas and
Liberty of the Seas, weighing in at 160,000 [gross registered tonnage] and holding 3,634 guests, double-occupancy,"
Royal Caribbean Cruises reports.
Passengers travelling onboard a
Royal Caribbean Cruises ship can enjoy voyages around Alaska, Australasia, Canada, Europe, Asia and South America.
