Eager holidaymakers are showing a preference for
Mediterranean cruises in 2008, it has been reported.
According to the Los Angeles Times, information from the Cruise Lines International Association suggests that half of all cruise holiday passengers now book seven months in advance and this year the "glitzy" Mediterranean looks popular.
However, while the figures reveal that
Mediterranean cruises are the fourth most booked destination for 2008,
Caribbean cruises are still the number one favourite.
"At least one in ten phone calls is about South America," Donna Ratte, owner of Cruise Holidays, commented.
"The biggest change we're seeing in 2008 is, for the first time, there are fewer cabins in the Caribbean," Mike Driscoll, editor of Cruise Week, added, noting that Europe is becoming a popular cruise holiday destination.
The Association of British Travel Agents reported last month that cruise "remains a success story within the travel industry".
