Princess Cruises has announced that its fourth Royal Class cruise ship launching in October 2019 will be named Sky Princess.
The name is said to be in honour of a previous Princess Cruises ship which sailed for the award winning cruise line more than 30 years ago.
Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises President said of the chosen ship name -” [The name] Sky Princess continues a Princess Cruises legacy and honours one of our previous ships. When Princess merged with Sitmar Cruises in 1988, Sky Princess joined our fleet and sailed with us for 12 years. Now more than 30 years later, a new Sky Princess will join the fleet featuring our modern design platform and contemporary innovations, offered to exceed our guests’ expectations.”
Sailing a series of Mediterranean cruises next year, Sky Princess will be sister ship to Royal Princess, Regal Princess and Majestic Princess, and will include signature royal class features onboard.
Guests booked to cruise the Mediterranean with Sky Princess can look forward to multiple dining and entertainment venues (including specialty dining), 80% balcony staterooms, Movies Under the Stars, a piazza-style atrium spanning three decks, adults only sanctuary and dedicated kids and teens clubs.
Sky Princess cruises, available to book later this month, will depart from Barcelona, Rome or Athens and include highlights of the Med and Adriatic. The final cruise of the season will see Sky Princess sail from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, USA in November 2019.
