While in principle the concept of a holiday aboard a vessel of defined specifications with numerous restaurants and bars and the concept of weight loss do not go hand in hand, it has been noted that cruise holidays can indeed be a top holiday for parting with the pounds.
According to the Mirror, dining rooms aboard cruise ships often have a healthy option, with
Independence of the Seas, a
Royal Caribbean Cruises vessel, even offering passengers the opportunity to take part in An Eat More to Weigh Less scheme.
This programme includes a tour of the buffet restaurant by an instructor who can provide tips on the healthier food options available.
And it is not only
Royal Caribbean Cruises, with its onboard gym and surf pool, that is catering to the carb crunching consumers.
Carnival Cruises boasts a ship-top jogging deck, a golf course and a multi-faceted swimming pool.
Meanwhile, onboard all
Princess Cruises ships, passengers can take part in the latest fitness fad - Wii Fit.
Jan Swartz, Senior Vice-President of
Princess Cruises stated: "We're very excited to partner with Nintendo to bring the Wii Fit experience to our passengers."
