Holidaymakers who choose to go on
cruises from the UK are saving themselves a lot of hassle, it has been claimed.
According to the Passenger Shipping Association, there are more benefits to be had from embarking on a cruise from a UK port.
The association's director William Gibbons commented that not having to worry about trekking through an airport is always an advantage.
"You don't have to worry about luggage being overweight or whether you have too much," he explained.
Mr Gibbons is of the opinion that flying to get to a cruise should simply be avoided, adding that even ships that set off from the Mediterranean could be reached by driving to Southampton and sailing from there.
Meanwhile, the European Cruise Council claimed last week that more Britons are likely to opt to go on cruises this year.
Chairman of the council David Dingle said that the economic downturn is likely to have little effect on them.
