Cruise ships have been recruited to help accommodate some of the 50,000 expected fans travelling to Moscow for the upcoming Champions League final.
According to the Moscow Times, an enterprising cruise ship company has begun selling hundreds of berths to fans of Manchester United and Chelsea who are travelling to the Russian capital to watch their respective teams vie for the title.
The
cruise ships are to be moored on the Moscow River at Vodny Stadion which is situated in the north-west of the city.
Travelling to Moscow is difficult enough and once there, rocketing hotel prices are providing an additional headache for football fans.
Steven Penney, a director at Select Travel which is organising the ships, told the newspaper: "This is purely a question of supply and demand and this is the only way to boost the capacity in Moscow at short notice."
The Champions League final takes place on May 21st 2008.
