A greater variety of cruises in European cruises and Latin America could soon be available following the news that Royal Carribean has bought the Spanish cruise operator Pullmantur.
The Madrid-based company is the largest cruise operator in Spain and runs five cruise ships to Europe and Latin America.
"Pullmantur offers a terrific strategic opportunity for Royal Caribbean to further grow our presence in the European and Latin American markets in a major and tangible way," said Richard D Fain, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Caribbean.
"We have made significant inroads into these regions through our Royal Caribbean international and Celebrity Cruises brands and this combination will allow us to accelerate our growth in these markets."
Royal Carribean already sails to the likes of the Greek Islands with its Splendour of the Seas, while the Navigator of the Seas can be seen sailing to the French capital of Paris on short cruise breaks.
Pullmantur was founded in 1971 and Alfonso Lopez Perez, general manager of the company thinks the move is an "excellent opportunity".
