Even though the economic downturn has reduced the number of people planning to take a summer holiday this year,
Costa Cruises has reported that it is going from strength to strength.
The company has confirmed its position as Europe's number one cruise line, stating that it has seen nothing but growth since the onset of the recession.
It claimed that its passenger volumes rose by ten per cent in 2008 to an estimated 4.7 million and that its ships accounted for 30 per cent of total passengers taking a
Mediterranean cruise last year, the Chatham Daily News reports.
Meanwhile, holidaymakers looking to take a break on a luxury cruise this year were recently advised that the industry has become more innovative.
The Luxury Institute explained to eTravel Blackboard that the sector has been reinvented in order to meet the changing needs of passengers, while simultaneously adjusting to the fluctuating economic climate.
