Costa Cruises look to boost UK awareness

Costa Cruises has attempted to boost its brand awareness in the UK by developing an online interactive programme that can be viewed by travel agents to expand their knowledge, it has been revealed.

The online training programme recently went live in the UK and provides the opportunity for agents to learn about the cruise liner in six modules, ranging from information on the company's history to fleet and itineraries, Travel Weekly reports.

Agents can work through the modules at their own speed and once they all have been passed they will be considered to be a Costa expert.

According to the publication, Costa UK managing director Marco Rosa said: "The big issue for Costa in the UK is that brand awareness is not high.

"We have almost doubled the UK marketing spend since I arrived four years ago, and tripled passengers numbers, so awareness in the trade is better than it was ... but clearly, we have still not done enough."

Among the vessels that passengers can board with Costa Cruises are Costa Marina and Costa Romantica, with the company specialising on cruises to the Mediterranean.
